Rave reviews for Shady Grove . The staff was great the stay was smooth the room was private and all things considered quiet. We met several of Kiernan's pediatricians and were impressed. I tried to walk while still under the influences of the epidural. lol boy was that a bad idea. I did the wobbely grab for the nurse who to be fair had told me that i couldn't walk yet... she was right.
I felt that Kiernan got a raw deal with his first few days of life. Every morning some new trouble. First morning birth next morning circumcision next morning a very painful and dreadfully long heal stick (this thing lasted almost 10 min and his foot is still black and blue evidently like his father Kiernan is a quick coagulator.) I was really looking forward to giving the boy a quiet day with no invasive trauma.
David was ready to go home too. His stay being less bedridden and woozy than mine. Also his bed was less comfortable and his sleep more subject to the nurse's intercom. I was a bit nervous about leaving such a helpful lot. Also the breastfeeding though well established in theory wasn't yet smooth and my milk hadn't come in yet (more on that to follow).
Upon inspection by the pediatrician for discharge it was discovered that Kiernan's weight was borderline but his jaundice inducing bilirubins looked pretty good. The Dr. advised a formula feed if my milk didn't come in by the next day. Naturally it came in about an hour after the formula feeding.
