Upcoming Adventures

Erena
Kathryn

Yoshi

In a very short time we will have company. My best friend Kathryn and her husband Yoshi and their adorable baby girl Erena will be staying with us. This is great and also scary.

Kiernan and Erena, both only children, will get to see what it is like to have a sibling and all us adults will get to find out what it is like to have 2 kids around the house. I think we are all in for some trials and some delights.
I am worried about making my guests comfortable. I know how auful that jet lag can be. Japan is just about a perfect flip day to night from DC. I am trying to imagine how hard that is with a baby.
I know for Kiernan at that age routine was paramount in his personal hierarchy and i want to provide somethign like that for Erena. I am borrowing a crib from my friend George and I am getting a changing table on craigslist and I bought blackout curtins to keep the light out. Kathryn's mom got us a room divider screen because the only room that is big enough for 3 people is our bedroom so we are dividing our room up into a temporary nusery and a guest room. We will take the guest room and Kiernan will stay put. The set up is already an adventure but it is good for clearing out some clutter. One of my favorite sites is Lifehacker and on lifehacker they suggest having people over regularly as an easy way to keep your house clean. The term is scurryfunge (the cleaning you do quickly before guests arrive)... we are scurryfunging our tails off lol.
Once they get here we are going to have lots of playdates with highschool friends and co-workers kids. We will reserve the discovery room at the library. We will play on the (soon to be finished I hope I hope) swing set at grandma and grandpa Scearces house. We will at the express wish of Yoshi go to see the Amish.
Kathryn and I decided a long while ago that if we had children of opposite gender that we would bethroth them. Their fathers' it seems don't entirly agree with this plan but we hold our secret betrothal plan to heart. The only problem is now calling Erena is cousin seems wrong.
Wish us luck!
Updates to follow.
