Coming back down

It was hard to let go of Halloween so we spent a few days this week in costume. On Friday we had dinner out on the lawn.

On Saturday we attacked the underbrush with a will. Thank you very much to Ruthie for the gift certificate that got us a hatchet a machete and an ax.

The plan is to trim the blackberry and raspberry bushes so that only those reachable from the driveway will remain. Additionally we cleared the entire perimeter back to the fence and the woods in preparation for our fruit trees.

Here is Kiernan clearing the fence area. This boy worked to exhaustion. He was so happy to be working with us. He wanted to hear all about yard work and axes. He napped for almost 3 hours afterward.

Here we are getting up to the middle of the hill. This is the part that will have the apple trees. We want to have 3 apple trees because one of the varieties I am most interested is a tripolid. We are also hoping to get cherry trees and plum trees and peach trees, but not all of those will be in this space.

Many hours later David finished up the last of the clearing. This picture shows about 2/3rds of what we cleared. It was a great job and I am so grateful to have such a willing family!
No mention will be made of the small tree chopped down onto my car. hahah

To give David a quiet break for some rest, I took the kids to Kiernan's favorite park in Gaithersburg and we ran around.
That evening I felt very much that I had overdone things. I was sick and dizzy and regretted taking my new found recovery for granted.
Some rest and some hot tubing set all to rights and by the next morning I was back on the road to normalcy.

On Sunday we went to Scearce's and for a visit to the nursing home. Here is Kiernan fired up and ready to go.

This week I have a lot of medical stuff including my stress test and my complete blood work-up so expect some more health related posts soon.
