I got home Thursday evening in time to see footsore Kiernan and crazy Daisy Megan try on their Easter hats. They look pretty nice. Kiernan did something to his foot or ankle when running and falling so he limped for a few days and spent some extra time not running around. Foolishly I thought this would be our drama for the weekend.
We did lots of cooking. Mom and the kids made watermelon popsicles and yogurt and some other stuff that was nifty and engaging. There were some science lessons about bacteria and matter changing states to go with all this food.
I made vanilla roasted pears. Scearce's came over to watch the kids and were greeted by an excited but barfy Megan...ah there is our drama for the weekend (and now of course they are sick). She seemed to recover quickly through rest and hydration.
We took it easy and watched Fantasia and had healthy food and ginger ale.
Kiernan took advantage of all the March wind to fly a kite on the driveway.
I picked up my new glasses.
That evening, just before I left for work, Kiernan started feeling sick. By the time I got home there was a mountain of laundry from all his throwing up. I spent the night on his floor helping him as much as I could. He was very very sick. I almost took him to the ER at 2 am. because he was panting and moaning and not very responsive. The next morning mom collapsed and she was so bad off I thought she was having a stroke. She was laying on the floor at the top of the stairs and couldn't move. She was moaning and saying that she couldn't move and she was very clammy. I was so worried. Suddenly she began throwing up too; over and over and over and violently. After that she could move again and I was relieved. Later that same day Megan, who was much better, crawled into my lap and threw up all over my front.
On the upside Kiernan now knows all about norovirus'.
I told David he had better throw up on me too because he was the only person in the house whose bodily fluids weren't on me. hahaha
WWwwwaaaaaa.
That day was very warm (67 degrees) so we tried some sunshine and rest for the kids.
We had been planning to go help with field day for Kiernan's tball association . Boy did that not happen.
Sunday we took it easy and worked on hydration and rest. I felt pretty queasy but it didn't really get worse than that. David let me get some extra sleep and I think that helped a great deal. He was a rock through all this plague. We played healthy kid tag a bit but mostly he chased the healthy one (Megan most of the time) while I held the sick one. Plus he filled in all the gaps when I felt too tired and queasy to do much.
Sunday evening it started snowing again. It snowed well into Monday.
For heavens sake. How much more snow? Make it stop! So we got a Saint Patrick's day snow storm.
We donned our green jeans or green other stuff and hung out for an extra weekend day of recovery and Irish music and movies.
By the evening everyone was feeling a little cabin fever and David had cleared the drive (oh that driveway) so we took a trip into the great Frederick Library.
I tried to make Boxty's. They were not great. I will try again but it was worth a shot.
