All of the sudden, at the beginning of the week, it felt like summer. The kids spent a while in the pool and swinging under the deck.
Megan decided to snorkel. Mostly she decided to snorkel naked. Oh gracious!
On Tuesday Grandma and Grandpa came up to take care of the kids. They even got to see a T-Ball game. Aunt Lore came too. We had a small cookout and a very fine evening for watching the coaches heard cats.
On Wednesday we went to see Kiernan's new school. We skeptically inspected their pizza (actually we like the pizza but I love this picture).
We checked out classrooms from the inside.
This is actually the classroom outside of which Megan spends nearly every T-Ball game. Any picture of her playing during T-Ball is probably from right outside that door. If Kiernan takes the bus this is where he will be dropped off.
It was really a big week. Kiernan was exhausted. The warm weather went away and it got rainy and my car skidded and slipped on oak pollen. We went to Noodles & Company and got Mac & Cheese. While there we met Kiernan's twin. OK they looked nothing alike but they were wearing the same Darth Vader shirt and they were both 5 and they both had Mac & Cheese, they both had little sisters and they loved each other at first sight.
We are going to try a play date later this week.
I must call his mom. I am so nervous about calling a woman I don't know to set up a playdate, but the kids will be so happy if it works out.
Wish me luck.
This weekend was the make up date for the Hit-AThon and a game (Sluggers vs. lil Dodgers). It was really cold.
Thanks to all the very generous donations Kiernan received on his 99 pledges page, he got 10 hits.
He hit the ball as hard as he could 10 times and the coaches measured and recorded his greatest distance hit. They are still tallying the results but I do know that, for his team at least, he did very well.
He really seemed to enjoy himself.
He got some swag, like baseball cards and a necklace (above) and some eye-black and some raffle tickets that he got to place himself. He played an abbreviated game due to the amount of time it took to measure hits for so many kids.
Afterward we went and ran some errands. Many people were entertained by the little uniformed boy in their midst.
At the grocery store Megan did one of those things that you sort of expect a toddler to do all the time. She opened up some eggs and tossed one onto the floor. sigh
Mount Airy was having its May Festival . The kids saw it as we drove to the store. We got free popcorn and saw a 'princess' and the kids tried out the bouncy castles and inflatable slides. Both kids lost some skin by over frolicking on inflatable megaplastic, but boy did they have fun.
Aunt Judy came over and we watched Elementary and hung out and had a grand old time. She is a great house guest and she fixes the kids pancakes just they way they like them.
The strawberry plants have started to produce some tiny strawberries. I know I should prune these but I don't have the heart. The kids are very attentive of their plants and would surely notice if I nip their strawberry race in the bud.
I am not too worried about increasing our yield anyway. Not yet...
On Sunday we had belated Mothers Day with mom.
We did Jimmie Cone and mani/pedi stuff and some general pampering of mom.
Happy Mothers Day mom.
:)
