On Friday Megan got all fancy and went for a hike.
Her shoes, hair, and t shirt matched her pants.
We hiked close to home on the rails to trails Mount Airy path by Watkins park.
We did not bring Pax as we had a huge list of errands to do that day.
We went to the kids dentist (new appointment for the replacement of Kiernan's spacer which has come out), to Mr. Tire to make an appointment for my car maintenance, to the eye Dr. to make appointments for mommy and daddy, to the park, to the post office to send out a box to Japan for Aunt Kathryn (at the post office they refused to let Megan use their restroom even though she was crying and clutching her stomach with cramps (I have rarely been so angry in all my life), to the library to return and check out new books plus pick up a waiting reserve book, to Frederick to Toys R' Us for a long delayed reward toy for both kids, to lunch at Jerry's and then back home...
Oh man that was a morning.
Once we got home Megan and Pax laid on the step together and looked soulfully into each others eyes.
I made veggie Ruben sandwiches this weekend. I discovered too late that we were out of rye so I used pumpernickel...not bad.
The hot tub opened for business!
To our amazement Kiernan has decided that he likes hot tubs now.
This boy hates hot water, even warm water if we are honest.
It was so nice to have him with us though.
On Sunday we went to Gaver farm again.
This time with Martin for our annual reminder of why America is fun and he should be here tip.
Kiernan was in a very maze oriented mood.
He asked for tic tac toe strategies. All I could think of was to start in the corner. If you know any others send them our way.
The kids did the mini corn maze.
Martin did the big one.
We hung out and chatted while the kids rode the cow train then rushed home for Megan's nap.
She went down and Kiernan and I decompressed for about half an hour before heading out for his first Tiger Scout meet up.
This boy is so very my son.
He said "But mom I had enough being out at Gavers farm, I am doing being out now!"
His best friend from school was there, a very sweet boy named Alex.
We are gearing up for an upcoming cub scout camping trip next weekend.
The kids are both thrilled, as am I. I think David is much less enthusiastic but is bravely hiding it.
Kiernan has really been struggling over the last few weeks.
I have been talking with his teacher and the school counselor. They have both been helpful and supportive.
He really doesn't want to leave home or to be separated from us.
When its time to get on the bus he often starts crying.
He is fine once he is in school.
He says that no one is being mean to him and that school is hard but not too hard. He says when we leave it feels like he will never see us again.
He also is wondering about when he will die.
My poor boy seems to be having all the adjustment issues of Kindergarten a year late plus some sort of existential crisis.
Ideas?
Recommendations?

Oh my goodness, this reminds me so much of me, Kiernan's anxiety. Having my sisters there was what saved me. Poor boy is there by his lonesome. Love you, Darling.
