It is summer.
I have brought a little bow into work. We have spent a little time in the afternoons shooting at a hill. Its lots of fun.
Megan has been going to her gymnastics classes.
She is practicing her Olympic gold medal winning pose.
For the work picnic this week we went to Baker park and I spent a while befriending a duck.
The kids and I have started some serious planning for our summer beach trip.
We are going to the beach and we are going to camp. I purchased a number of helpful items for the venture. The first tow (inflatable chair/beds) had to be tested out for fit and comfort.
The just barely fit and were suitably comfortable.
The tent has a moldy used smell in it so we left it up in the yard all weekend to soak up some sun and to air-out.
We had sleep outs.
This week mommy and Megan day mostly entailed doing errands but we had some time for a library visit.
There were 3 baseball games this week to make up for all the rained out games.
It was too much for me but the kids held up quite well.
Kiernan has been having some trouble with the heat and activity though.
On Friday while Megan and I were out shopping and painting the town he had double outside recess and outside gym class.
He got a bit of heat exhaustion. He said he wanted to rest. He had a headache and spikes of nausea. So we developed the PPS (Pool Popsicle Strategy). It worked fairly well.
The pool is a mess but is deep enough to splash and play in and that is most of what counts.
Look at this crazy girl with her ice cream face and her sparkly shoes.
She is dancing around and telling me about ice cream.
The final Bulls game was Saturday.
The team will meet up once more for a celebratory adventure to a Keys game.
Kiernan wants to play again next year. We might move up a level to kid pitch (AA minors).
After his game I took him home to change into cooler clothing.
While there we spied some ripe blackberries.
Yay!
The final Cubs game followed right after the Bulls game.
Megan made some big hits and took a cute team photo.
Then we piled into my car and rushed off to my company picnic.
It was very hot.
We were slightly late.
She got to hold a chick and talk to a pony and all was well.
There was an spectacular dearth of vegetarian food but there was a set of tables loaded with pie so we had various pies for lunch.
Megan loved the moon bounce.
Kiernan loved the zipline.
Megan tried to love the zipline but felt that it was too high after all.
David tried it too.
Poor Megan backed out. Next year.
It was zip line back and forth for him and chilling out for the rest of us.
We left over heated and a little taxed.
The kids decided to round out the day with an evening in the tent.
The next day (Sunday) we went to Uncle Chris and Aunt Pammy's community pool.It was nearly empty which suited me just fine!
After that we stopped at Scearces for some strawberries (mostly not there) and some visiting (very nice).
Once home I tried unsuccessfully to lounge. I will definitely try that some more as supper wears on.
That evening I took David out on a date.
We went for a walk and heard a bit of a concert in the park and ate German food.
