Although she has a summer cold and lots of congestion Megan is as usual in good spirits. She is as I claimed in an Instragram post full of bounce and tickles.
Its been hot and rainy and the garden is blooming and beginning to bear fruit.
I finally finished weeding and mulching the back vegetable gardens.
We have started gathering snow peas. They are quite tricky to spot. The easiest way for me is to get them while the white flower is still attached to the top.
The corn has 1 or 2 kernels on each baby ear.
There are tons of tiny green tomatoes.
I felt so summery this week I made out a dinner on the back deck with fruit and bread and cheese and felt fancy.
Megan clearly felt fancy too.
Because of her cold she is having a hard time sleeping. Kiernan had one too but he seems mostly over it.
Megs keeps getting up early because she cant breath and then falls to sleep a few hours later on the couch.
I am very sorry that she is sick but am relishing the chance to see her sleep. What a beautiful girl. How rare to see her in repose.
On Friday we went to Sugarloaf with the new bonus company of Kiernan and Pax.
They both did very well. Neither of them flagged or barked at strangers.
Ha.
Kiernan and Megan are not falling into an easy summer routine. They are both too used to being without one another and they are bickering and whining and making the grown ups crazy with the pettiness of their complaints
Kiernan carried a backpack full of food and drink for himself and I carried another for myself and Megan and Pax...well almost ...water only for the dog.
We saw no snakes or Lizards this time due mainly to the fact that we met a whole summer camp full of rock climbers and repellers.
It was particularly reassuring to see how well Pax behaved around those myriad helmeted rambunctious children and their guardians.
I do miss Mommy and Megan day.
I am glad to get Kiernan out on some of the trips he always feels cheated out of.
On Saturday morning we went for our 3rd big summer picnic. Davids company took its employees to Hershey Park.
It was crowded and by the end of the day we had determined to just never go to any major summer activity at peak.
It was too crowded and too hot and there were too many lines.
On the other hand in between complaining kids in long lines and hustle and bustle we discovered a water park.
It was just perfect for the day and the kids had never seen one before.
They took to it like fish to water.
We skipped Megan's nap and took advantage of the hospitality tent for a late lunch and then packed off to the car after Kiernan started to feel sick.
Everyone was very tired and all but Kiernan felt we should return soon.
We didn't get to do any roller coasters. Both the kids wanted to but the lines and the wave pool convinced them otherwise. We have good reason therefore to revisit it.
On the way back David asked me in a somewhat pleading voice if Sunday was booked for anything.
I was pleased to be able to tell him that he would be free for the day.
This was the beginning of David also getting sick.
On Sunday I took the kids out early and did errands and kept them out at the park and in the Monocacy river until nap time and David got to rest a bit.
This I hope made up for the fact that I slept in until almost 10 o'clock and missed my MotoGP race.
I hear he made great pancakes.
I am really glad I married him.
Next week Cub Scout camp...
