Kiernan and AJ had a playdate. I took the kids to the park. It was very hot and they played in the mist and on the swings and when we returned AJ we were told that summer playdates would be an option much to the joy of all.
I was afraid that I had gotten the new peach tree in too late for any fruiting this year but there is one small and fuzzy peachlette. I am pleased.
This is the lying 4 leaf clover that I found at the beginning of the week. It may have only been lucky for me but I think maybe not even that. Having not given a great deal of time to the contemplation of the blanket effects of a 4 leaf clover I cannot say.
Here are the two of us the other us here is Kelsey. We are putting together lab tables. In the other room Diandra and Josh are putting together a cabinet. The cabinet is about to smash the heck out of Diandras finger.
Here is the only thing I saw for the rest of the week as Megan got really really sick. She got a 3 or 4 day fever and a throat so sore she cried when she swallowed and such congestion it made her throw up over and over.
It was a sleepless week. It was an exhausting worrying week.
Kiernan stayed healthy for most of it. His stomach was delicate this week but mostly he was ok. He has been in a helpful mood. He has been doing lots of chores and especially helping with the gardening.
Both kids run out each morning (when they are run worthy) to check how tall they are compared to the sunflower. This morning it was over both their heads and up to my chin.
The squash and cucumbers are getting ready to climb.
Various beans are climbing even now.
On Thursday Megan finally made it back to school for bubble day and Kiernan got a 'really cool' assembly presented by the librarians at our local branch. So after school I took him to the library to sign up for the summer reading challenge.
I also signed up Megan and myself.
We have weekly reading goals.
I will read a new book a week. Last week I read Neil Gaiman's Norse Mythology and this week I am working on a book about Margaret Douglas (Tudor history stuff).
Kiernan chose several books but then asked to see the books where I was looking.
I had never given him a formal tour of the library, so we walked around and I showed him the categories and options for grown up books and he was impressed. When we got to the cookbooks he got excited. He asked if he could check out a cookbook. I said sure but lets go look at the kids section for kids cook books. He wondered if there were such things. We went to the librarian and asked her for kids cookbooks. She walked us over to the right section and while doing so asked Kiernan what he wanted to cook. "Nothing with meat!" he said. I explained that he was vegetarian. The librarian said that she was a vegetarian too. She gave him a high five and said that she had a good one for him. He got moon eyes and whispered to me that she was really cool.
He got his vegetarian cookbook and i took him to the store to stock up for one recipe. We did tiny tacos and it was messy and delicious and full of pride.
It was a fun work week. We got a good bit done but are not as busy as we have been so we took more walks and did more organization stuff (long overdue and satisfying).
On Friday we went out and did an escape room. It was a group of fairly friendly fairly intelligent people so we had fun and did well.
We solved all but the last clue and most of us will do it again.
Friday was the last day of school. Megan was helathy enough and Kiernan made it through the day and went home to bed feeling sick thereafter.
It was a rough day for him to be sick because it was the day of the Cub Scout Fishing and Ice Cream Social. He loves that so much.
He asked mom to take him. He threw up in her car and then collapsed onto a bench by the pond. Once David and I got there (from the escape room) he stopped fighting it and let us take him home. He threw up between the bench and the car a few times. My poor boy.
The Packmaster snuck Megan some ice cream as we had to leave early.
The next day he rested and we did lots of yard work plus David cleaned the gutters.
We got a great surprise when Popa and Grandma Mary showed up with a car full of Hostas.
We spent much of the day putting them into the ground we got hot and sweaty and stinky!
The kids really wanted to go to the pool but Megan slept for almost 4 hours at her nap so we didn't make it.
It was supposed to be the first of our summer campout weekends and that didn't work either.
The kids just weren't up to anything major.
After we put the kids to bed I wanted to mend a shirt and went looking for the button box. I did not find the button box. I found a snake. David and I spent a lively half hour convincing he snake to go be outside.
On Sunday my friend Michelle came over and we all (minus David) went to the gym. The kids got to swim and I got to work out and it was very nice. My tooth started to hurt.
I was told that I might need a root canal if I didn't get crowns soon.
I missed the appointment while in Denmark. I had been trying throughout the week to make a followup but kept getting out of office call back later messages.
I was quite worried about a root canal.
On Monday morning I drove to the dentist office to make an appointment. They asked if I could take a same day appointment as they had a cancellation. So I went to the dentist and didn't get a root canal but they told me that it was about 50/50 that I might need one. I got fitted fro a crown. This is a think I have never done before.
This is the worried Missy face above.
