At work things got crazy busy so we self medicated with doughnuts.
We had visitors from Denmark to train us on the new robots so we got them doughnuts. The lab from California moved in on the same week, therefore more doughnuts. We had an unexpected test from Germany complete with German tester, more and other varieties of doughnuts. A new guy started and he is vegan so we needed special doughnuts for that... I had a book club meeting with my friend Jessica and she is also vegan so back to those doughnuts...they were out!
I am now more doughnut shaped.
We picked and ate our only peach. It was very good.
In the interest of turning our children into American Ninja Warriors David has installed an awesome and only slightly dangerous cargo net
We tested it out a good bit.
Once everyone was happy with the tension and general wobble...
he cut away a big old section of the deck.
It looks pretty hazardous but we piled mulch under it and crossed our fingers.
The dog loves her new view!
David worked on his guitar some more. I think it is looking beautiful.
I got a new fish. His name is Paris. I also think he looks beautiful.
Little known fact: people from Denmark are freaked out by praying mantis sightings!
Here is some of our new group going out for Cuban.
Here is Kiernan ready to play some Chess.
Very ready.
He had been having mega anxiety the last few days. He says the car reminds him of the tilt-a-whirl. He askes me to please drive carefully about every 3 minutes. He refused to get into moms car to go to the pool.
We are thinking its time for a shrink.
The baetals have not defeated my baby crape myrtle. Also its a nice shade of purple that dosen't show up in this picture.
The eggplants are coming!
We got kicked out of our lab. First we lost our fish and plants. Then we lost our desks. Then we were told to behave ourselves and act more corporate in the main office area.
I was swearingly angry for a few days.
I hate so much to be reminded that I am a corporate cog. I took it out on poor Krishna who needless to say with all the tests and visitors was having her own rough week.
I feel bad about it.
I apologized. None of it is her fault and humanity is not a thing companies are particularly known for encouraging.
We got away with a lot and I know we were lucky but many do my spirits feel quashed after losing my fish my pillow fort and my sense of personal expression all in one week. I feel like the bosses don't get that this transition is as hard on us as it is ion them...maybe they do..
It dosen't seem to bother them all that much as long as we are quite about it tho.

I feel like many of the things that make me love going to work are being eliminated very rapidly.\I will get used to it and everything will be find but for now I am sad and resentful.
The kids and mom came by for lunch and reminded me of my excellent life.
I went running and got exhausted but went half a mile further than last week.
I cooked up a storm of low sodium foods.
These are mushrooms for no sodium pizzas.
Here is a garbanzo flour crust that is not too bad.
Megan has decided to be a redhead.
It suits her.
There were protests and counter protests in Charlottesville. A group called unite the right (a white supremacist group) was protesting the removal of a stature of the confederate General Lee. A group of mostly students from a local University counter protested. The next day many more people showed up and counter protested. It turned really ugly really fast.
There were deaths. A white supremacist dude drove his car into a group of counter protesters.
I talked to the kids about it.
I told them that a group like the KKK was protesting the stature removal and they attacked people and about the car driving into the crowed the next day. Then I told them that Aunt Lore (happy birthday to her) and Nana and I were going to go to a support vigil for peace.
When they are slightly older I will let them come too. For now bedtime rules.
What a world.
