School starts 2019

The morning of the first day of school dawned inevitably.
The night before we layed out outfits and packed lunches and put the backpacks by the door.
In the morning we ate a big breakfast and were ready about a half an hour before we needed to be.
The kids were super excited (Megan) and in a bit of shock (Kiernan).

The week went on with less excitement and more resignation. We kept on with the lunch packing and were late on 0 days. David changed his schedule so that he could take the kids in to school in the morning.
Kiernan is having a lot of stress related stomach and headaches and is regretting the beginning of the year something fierce.
He has asked to drop band and has withdrawn his plan of rejoining Scouts this year. He wants to keep up his private violin lessons.
Megan wants everything to start already. Her dance classes start next week and Girls Scouts start next week.
She wants it to be Halloween and her birthday and she wants to be a teenager.
I promised her a fancy hair dye for the start of the school year. I made an appointment at Artisnal Hair  Company in Frederick.

It was stupid expensive for a kids hair style but it was a treat she loved and it was worth it.

Kiernan wanted to come and see how everything went at a professional salon. It was a three hour appointment. We wound up going out for lunch.

When Megan was done she felt so fancy.

They took pictures of her and she got her sassy on.

She loved the attention she got and she loved how it looked.

Then we went out for lunch again.
Kiernan says he would like to have lunch twice every day.

The next day Kiernan got sick and stayed home.
Mom took Megan to Gavers Farm.

They picked apples and Megan did a small corn maze.

She was fancy and drove a tractor.

David did more deck painting and then mowed the front and back yard. That was a ton of work!
I decided to be productive as well.
I cooked the following:

The German style potato salad turned out well.

The not-borscht left me with an extra half a head of cabbage.

So I tried grilled cabbage with garlic and onion. It was very nice.
