Opa's visit

On the same day that Megan did the indoor sky diving Opa flew in.
We celebrated with him for a week.

I drew my own labcoat for Inktober so here I am in it

We were so happy to have Opa here.
I wish that he would move out here. The kids loved having him here and I loved having him here and David loved having him here.
We were lucky to get him for his birthday (Halloween).

He hasn't seen our house or our lives and we were so happy to share them with him.

We did pumpkin carving.

We had birthday cake.

We had a big family get together.
These are the moments that I loved best from that day.

Kiernan and Opa chatting before guests arrived.

Story telling and chats on the deck on a beautiful warm fall day.

Some cousin hanging out time.

Some longtime no see and hey how are you catch ups.

Being at home so I could retreat the people and throw knives when it all got overwhelming because I can't people even with people I love.

This crazy kids vs grown ups nerf war.

The beautiful light through our tees.

I saw a fox at work last week. I was going for my walk and there it was.
So neat!

We started a new D&D campain and I am trying to play as a bard.
Here I am. I can also transform into a wolf.

We expected a big storm on Halloween. There was some concern that there would be no trick or treating.
Kiernan made his own great costume.
I decided we would eat early then run out to get in what early trick or treating in that we could.

As I sat down to eat my phone dinged asking where we were.
Megan had apparently agreed to go trick or treating with some kids from school.
We flew out the door and caught up with them while David and aunt Lore and Opa took Kiernan to our normal place.

It was weirdly hot and windy.

Once we got home the kids divided up their candy and we all had birthday cake and song with Opa.

It poured rain and blasted wind and we were happy and snug at home.
Megans pumpkin was destroyed from heat and storm and looked very pitiful.

Megan had a cool Girl Scout event.

It was a mother daughter spa day in a church.

We made fac scrub and perfume and lip balm and hair bands.

It was early in the morning and a bit cold but Meg was so happy.

Also dramatic as you can see.

It ended with hot wash cloths and relaxing music and water with cucumbers in it.

We got lots of tomatoes from Scearces'.

We ate them in many forms.

We took Opa for a chilly and windy hike on the C&O tow path by the Monocacy Aquaduct.

David and his dad are very alike.
It warms my heart to see them together.
They often sit or stand side by side and are silent. They are content and it is wonderful.

When Opa left we were still trying to figure out a way to get him to stay.
I made a Christmas breakfast of Aebleskiver and plans to get out to California with the kids.
We miss him already.
