Ok so strangely this entire post came out backwards so lets start at the end of February.
I decided to try to start using my Fitbit again and had to do way more fiddly things to get it into the new band. I broke nothing and feel accomplished.
I went on my first run in forever. I did a ton of walking but it was almost 50 degrees and the roads were clear. Virtue they name is warmer days and more light out.
I tried the famous TikTok pasta.
It was very nice.
I finished up the painting kits that the girls got me for my birthday.
Here was the final painting.
Megan and I had a girls day/spa day.
She was a unicorn and I was a sloth.
hahah
We also spent some time working on dragons. I tried to do what I have been doing with the watercolor kits but with my own image (a Norse dragon). It was a good start.
Here is a shot of the art day.
Megan painted a dragon print out with metallic water colors. This is a tree dragon.
I started priming many 3D prints.
David and Kiernan and I started playing a game called Valheim. It is a terrific game in which you are a Viking in your afterlife dropped into a new worked and given a chance to earn your place in Valhalla by defeating monsters. Its a bit of a survival game. We've built a cool base and Kiernan made this boat. We've defeated some bosses. I love this game. It is beautiful and engaging and the cooperative play is outstanding.
I printed a dragon for Meg.
Mom and David's birthday happened. It was a work day for me and a very snowy and icy one at that. Base opened late and i took off early to get cake. David had a blueberry yogurt cake and mom had a chocolate moose cake. I missed sugar a ton that day. ha!
I got the cakes at a Korean grocery store in Frederick called HMart. Its a fantastic store and they have a lot of smaller stores inside. One of these is a lovely bakery. The woman gave me candles and carving knives top go with the cakes then a bag of small treats after she heard it was for my moms and husbands birthday.
I printed this beautiful dice tower for my friend Geoff for his birthday. He is the only person I have ever met who may like dragons even more than I do.
The kids went back to physical school. They now go in twice a week (on Monday and Tuesday) and spend the other three days working online.
After a ton of searching I found a Kings Cake for fat Tuesday.
This year I have given up Amazon for Lent.
Woof that's always a hard one.
I am having an easier time resisting the sugar at this point but the Amazon thing is rough.
We went and got our first round of seeds. We are still waiting on a few from online orders but we have a fair vision for the garden this year.
I am doing a ton more nasturtiums as they were both bright and tasty last year.
We had several weeks of snow. Just about every 3 or 4 days we would give a fair sized snow fall.
The kids built snowmen and forts.
For Valentines Day we had lots of heart shaped foods.
I did my first ever SCA University. The SCA (society for creative anachronism) is a group of people who are into history to the extent that they (we) dress up in historical costumes and try to do historical things (600-1600). Here is my Viking apron dress that I wore for the classes. It was all online.
I took:
Intro to Bardic 101
Beginners guide for growing a medieval kitchen garden.
SCA Ukulele
Your First SCA War
Viking Hair Styles
No Fit Instrument- The Bagpipe Pre-1600
Plant Foraging: introduction to edible and medicinal weeds
Many of the classes were very professionally done and super interesting.
I painted a Luna moth from the kit.
Kiernan made a snow fort. Megan made one opposite him but I didn't get a good picture of it. Hers had a sled for a roof.
I printed some robot legs.
The Snow was beautiful.
Megan got braces.
Robot parts started piling up.
We had an epic snowballfight and the kids hid under a tree and in their forts.
We had a ball.
There was so much driveway clearing...
so much.
Mom got us this cool little Chinese guardian lion for our anniversary. He was consistently covered and uncovered through out the snowy weeks. I was using him as a bit of a weather gage for a while then he just got buried.
Somehow during one of these snows David's car ghot a flat.
Kiernan designed a personal device.
Its a helmet with a sword through it spiking a piece of cheese.
More shoveling.
Here is my device. I used my lyre
Robot parts got sliced and exploded.
I painted the bubbles watercolor kit.
To start off the month we got a great surprise of family coffee from Hawaii. What a spectacular treat.
I told the kids it was from their family coffee plantation.
hahah
It was so kind of Dad and Mary to send it. Also it was great to drink.
