Sep 2023

Over September we moved into the fall.

This means we harvested out best pumpkin (the only good one) and made foods.

I finished Jedi Survivor. This is a wonderful game and part 2 of a wonderful series.
I played semi- obsessively.

I made a few batches of really nice ginger scones.

Behold the progress of pumpkin-to-admire to pumpkin-for-food.

David gave Megan her dream orange and black hairstyle.

We took a trip for my dad and grandmas birthdays.
There we got to see grandpas new medal.
Its not typical (I think to keep receiving medals this far into retirement) but I suspect the Oppenheimer movie spurred some politicians into awarding medals to the living survivors of the governments nuclear tests.

Here is his new cool medal in the case. That is a really crowded medal case!

And here is the cert that came with it.
My grandfather is just so cool.

My grandmother also is just so cool!
Here she is at the party. We did a Hawaii theme in honor of my dad coming over to the mainland for the celebrations.

Even the wheelbarrow got dressed up.

We stayed at a hotel with a pool and a neat fish.

We also dressed fancy.

David's shirt was in very close contest for the wildest Hawaiian shirt present.

The kids were both game (Megan is sitting on hers) and I feel we presented ourselves well.

We got our new anniversary present oven.
David has been wanting a glass top version for ages because they are easier to clean...
easier...
It looks pretty great though.

Also he cleaned all the gunk that had fallen behind the old one.

We had so so so many tomatoes in September. They were mostly volunteer.

In one weekend I decided to knock down the bounty and made pasta and salads and salsa and gazpacho.

I was in heaven.

That same week was CSA week so I did a few cool other foods like this skillet peach cobbler.

David got me beautiful anniversary flowers.

Megan got to play with a CSA puppy on its first day out to meet humans.

Finally for our anniversary we went to a very tasty Indian place called Chutney.

It was a sunny and delicious month with family and fun.
