For Christmas we got a fancy espresso machine and David has mastered foamy milk frothing.
It is beautiful and delightful and luxurious.
My family joined me on my Feb hike. My goal was 2 miles but managed 3. We went to Cunningham Falls again and this time went to the actual falls.
The weather was good and we chatted and planed impossible trips and enjoyed the time.
I felt pretty good and even though my feet hurt is was fine.
March should be 3 miles.
Cross your fingers.
Megan had her friend Molly over and the did cosplay stuff that looked great.
I am trying to learn how to crochet.
Kelsey who is a crochet wizard came over to teach us. Kelsey is the best.
We were terrible but delighted to see her and learn what we could.
She recommended that we try Woobles.
I ordered some Woobles. It’s gonna be great.
The Super Bowl came and we ate aaallllllll the foods.
I ordered cauliflower wings and made 7 layer dip and we got pizza and wings and we settled in for quite a good game.
My team is so far from the Super Bowl. I wear my jersey nevertheless.
Some day.
Each year a pick a team not my own and usually they lose but this time I picked the winning team and that was weirdly thrilling.
We got another nice snow.
I managed to swing a Kings Cake at the last minute and we ate and listened to zydeco.
Here is some zydeco for you to listen to as well.
My demands were more cake and more zydeco.
For Valentine’s Day David got me tulips (my favorite) and we all got each other chocolate.
I brought some tulips to work and watched them bloom all week.
Valentine’s Day was also Ash Wednesday and I was bummed because I didn’t think I’d have time to get ashes but then just before I got to work I saw a sign for drive through ashes and made a quick turn.
Excellent find. A very kind priest ashes me and said a beautiful prayer about being humble and kind and I gave him a valentines chocolate. I hope he didn’t give up chocolate for Lent.
I as usual have given up Amazon.
That’s good for me and the planet and my bank account. It’s also not easy.
For dinner we had our usual Mac and cheese and peas and garlic bread. We always have this. It’s very romantic and slightly silly.
It’s the first meal David made for me.
My children are Mac and cheese snobs but I will not be shifted for blue box craft much to their dismay.
Tradition is tradition.
I made a big pot of chili and some hot honey jalapeño corn bread.
It snowed again. Just a dusting but I was worried about it as it came right when I had a trip to the airport to pick up Kathryn. It was pretty perfect actually. Nothing on the roads but the trees looked like this.
Tokyo doesn’t get a lot of snow so I felt we were showing to good advantage.
I picked her up and drove her straight to Red Robin for out traditional welcome-back-burger. Because America.
One of the things we planned to do, while she was here, was try out lots of Girl Scout cookies.
This was an excellent plan.
Then it was David and moms birthday.
We got pie instead of cake and lots of weird ice cream parrings. We also got caviar and I made little pancakes to go with that.
I got mom a pedicure and David a massage and the snow blower fixed.
That last one was for all of us really.
One of our friends posted his picture of David in High School.
This is about 2 years after we met.
I took Kathryn over to Joe Ga to get in her 1 in person non zoom lesson of the year.
It was great to see Steven.
We had a plan to do a small memorial for Kathryn’s dad once she got into town and we got lucky with a weekend where 4 of 5 of the siblings were there.
I got flowers and sent out some invites for a potluck. I made a peaceful piano playlist and made an In Loving Memory poster and slide show.
It was a bit of a scramble but I’m glad we pulled it off.
Everyone invited came and there was lots of food and I think Mrs. Scearce appriciated it.
I took David to his massage and he loved it.
I hit two years on my Duolingo. It gave me the message for one year and I was confused.
I finally got my Invisalign off. My teeth are straight and feel so happy to not feel those little cement pieces or that plastic coating anymore.
So happy!
Our daffodils decided it was spring a little early.
They are lovely and smell like spring so I’ll not complain.
