The sea the sea we're of to see the sea

We went to the beach last weekend. Kiernan has never seen the ocean. He had never seen a sand box as huge and impressive as the one we brought him to. We pulled up to the beach and parked in front of a dune. He saw the dune and squealed ran to it and put his little car into it. It took me some time to get him past the dune to the beach proper. When he saw all that sand he went a little crazy. He threw his arms behind him and yelled SSSAANNNNDDD SSAAANNNDDD for a few minutes and then OOOCCCEEAANNN. The ocean lost its charm pretty quickly once he discovered that it came towards him unpredictably.

We stayed in a house very near the beach and it was beautiful

We ate on the deck and watched the water and we watched "babies" in the house and discovered that striped Kiernan's and plaids couches don't go together. We had fun with Nana.

We met a wonderful kind fireman who opened the station just for Kiernan. He let Kiernan drive the trucks and he gave us a firefighter hat.

Kiernan turns out to be a great traveler talking away in the car loving the bay-bridge and sleeping well in the new place. He found a child-unfriendly loft ladder that he fell in love with and I think it was a great introduction to both the beach and time away from home.
