Kiernan's Birthday and a beach trip

Here is what Kiernan's 4th birthday looked like. We took the week off of work thanks in large part to a generous offer of the remainder of a time share week at the beach from David and Jenet Scearce. We spent most of the time at the beach and then came home and prepped for the big Star Wars party. We got some very cold weather and a bit of snow and we did some fun church stuff too.

From now on call me Red Pilot 1. Kiernan gets ready to go out into the snow.

Before Church, looking like ZZTop.

Graduating from the Cradle roll to the Kindergarten Sabbath school classes. This process scares him a good bit I think. He will go to a class where the routines are different and the kids are mostly new and I think the graduation/birthday stuff both pleased and intimidated him. He got sung to and he got to pick a present. He was given a certificate and escorted to his new room.

Even going to the beach was a little rattling  He found sleeping in a new place exciting and alarming. But he handled the whole thing really well. He used some coping mechanisms like the thumb sucking and the blanket holding but also he is clearly developing some new ones. Video games feature heavily in the new coping strategies  On Long car trips Megan chats and naps and Kiernan plays angry birds Star Wars.

We had some clear highlights: a cozy fire on a cold beach day.

An amazing game of mini-golf wherein Kiernan got 2 holes in one and Megan found an eel.

The high never got  over 26 while we were at the beach...most of the time it was 18 or below. It was beautiful and cold.

The Chesapeake Bay bridge. Is always a great landmark and proves that we are nearing 'our world' as he calls his familiar stomping grounds.

Once home we took advantage of the few inches of snow we got for all it was worth. Some serious tobogganing was had before and after church.

Birthday though was all Star Wars all the time
