Productivity and a shot of penicillin

This weekend we started trying to make the place much more our own. I have a grand vision for a few of the rooms and the yard so here we go. The kids bathroom is going to be modeled off of one we saw when house hunting. I liked it so much that I kept the house on my short list just for the kids decor.
This bathroom will be a very fun monster bathroom. It is well on its way. After a short while It will be painted bright green...imagine hahah.

Megan has gone crazy for "outside"! Every spare minute she wants to be out on the deck or out in the yard. She has been drawing with chalk and climbing the stairs and ogling the chickens.

The biggest change we are working on just now is the basement makeover. I think this yellow looks fantastic. It is bright enough to keep things from looking gloomy and the LED-light brightness is really working. Next up the floor.

While new arrangements are fun we are not really done with the old ones. This weekend we got a huge amount done on the moving front. Thanks in great part to our helpful and wonderful family, the living room and kitchen in the old place are empty and ready for a good scrub...in fact the kitchen has already begun its good scrub thanks to mom and Lore.
The bedrooms upstairs have bits and bobs left and we have a few boxes in the attic plus bookcases and boxes from the basement. Our stuff is probably about 4 hours worth of work and mom says her belongings will be boxed and ready for hauling next weekend.
David is renting a steam cleaner this week and a moving truck this weekend.
That plus the now long term loan of the pick-up from Scearces' has us in pretty good shape.

In part to de-stress and in part because my medication and infections have me housebound, I did a little yard work yesterday. I was lucky enough to catch a few newts and show them to Kiernan.

Megan meanwhile just loved all the outside and play time with her aunt Pammy.

On the medical front.
On Friday I had a very bad reaction to the doxycycline I had been taking for my abscesses. I became faint and very very nauseous. I couldn't even stand. It was quite uncomfortable and the kids were freaking out (so was I but much more quietly and closer to the ground). I called the Dr. and they told me to take some benedryl and lots of fluids and that if I didn't recover in 2 hours to come in.
Lucky for me I threw up and the adverse reaction stopped immediately. I asked the Dr. about a replacement antibiotic and they said they didn't want anything else in my system and to put warm compresses on 4 times a day. I was extremely dubious of this advice and think it was due to the fact that when I initially went in the abscesses were pretty small. After a half day of phone tag I just went into the Dr.s office and boy were they glad I came in.
The infection  and inflamed area on my leg was huge and the wound on my back wasn't much better.
They took another culture.
They gave me a shot of penicillin in the butt.
I was so miserable I was grateful for it. They also put me on another kind of antibiotic for a 10 day dose.I was genuinely scared of how my body was going to take to the new stuff but other than the gut mangling tendencies of the penicillin I am OK.
Best of all after about 36 hours the red inflammation around my leg was nearly gone.
I wanted to find my Dr at home and kiss her!
I am so relieved.
When I got to work this morning, psyching myself up for my new job training, I found out that one of my lab mates had a double pulmonary embolism this weekend and I will be doing his job instead, for the time being.
Boy dose that put things in perspective.
Tony if you read this please take it easy and get well soon.
