The autumn leaves fall out my window...

On Friday we went to Scearce's for a hike. Megan took grandpa for several hikes actually. Kiernan has finally hit his cold tolerance. He claims he is not cold but after half and hour tromping through the mud barefooted (46 degrees outside on Friday), he decided he was done going outside.

A small project update: we are almost finished putting down the sand and pea gravel under the deck in the kids area. Additionally Megan has graduated to a regular sling style swing. When things get warmer I will start the painting under there. So far we have a sandbox a balance beam a few swings and a trapeze bar with rings.

On Saturday I went to Aunt Pammy's baby shower. It was in Silver Spring and the beginning coincided with the Montgomery County Thanksgiving Day parade. I knew about the parade before hand and I even had a good idea of where to park off route. Sadly, parking was more difficult than I had anticipated and I got routed out into the parade route anyway. Almost 45 minutes later I was able to get out of the traffic cones and stash my car somewhere.

The shower was in the Silver Spring B&O railroad station. There were lots of people and food and games and a happy Aunt Pammy. I can't wait to see that new baby, he is almost here.

I marched back to my car, past this cool mural and toting goodies for the kids.

When I got home I took over kid wrangling so that David could attack the leaves. We had been putting off the leaf blowing and raking. As you know we have a ton of leaves. We also have a neighbor who is a landscaper...a landscaper who hates trees basically. We have really been feeling the pressure both of our homeowner responsibilities and of getting our leaves off of his lawn.
The plan was to do leaves last weekend and finish up this weekend but it rained so they were all waiting for us this weekend.

David leaf blew for hours. He raked until the rake snapped in his hands, leaving a nice bloody gash. The pile of leaves he created is epic. They are still in front of the house but the high winds yesterday didn't budge the thing.

On Sunday Nana and I took the kids out for a few hours to give David a break. First we went to Costco for giant Pizza then to the mall for indoor climbing.

After that it was home again for naps and leaf pile play.

Behold the boy being eaten by the leaf pile.
