Dentist visit 2 of 3 took place on Tuesday. No teeth were pulled this time it was a filling and a shiny silver cap. Kiernan loves his silver tooth. Apparently it makes him a cyborg zombie. I love love love the kids dentist. This time when he sat down in the chair they offered him a gameboy. He had never seen a gameboy but that was no barrier. In fact, the game that loaded up when he turned it on was Mario Kart!
I found this tray of variously sized steel tooth caps just riveting.
The tooth area is still a little sensitive so no flossing around it for now. He has one more appointment at the end of December for having a spacer put in where the earlier tooth was extracted. Then its on to the more normal 6 month check ups.
On Friday we went to Grandma and Grandpa Scearce's by way of Dunkin' Doughnuts.
it was cold and rainy and we just hung out and looked at Aunt Licia's fish tanks.
Saturday morning we cleaned up for a fun visit from Uncle Chris and Aunt Pammy. Kiernan at this time last year was afraid of the vacuum noise. Now he is begging to run it himself.
I have always been very bothered by loud noises and was worried that he might be the same way, so this new found love of the roaring machine, makes me quite pleased.
We started doing some Christmas decorating. Megan can't remember Christmas last year and is completely enchanted. She wants us to decorate her. She puts garlands all over herself and dances around. Here she is in her tutu preparing to spin dangerously.
The kids separated their Aunt and Uncle for some gender-ed play. Megan and Aunt Pammy talked hair.
Kiernan learned a new tower defense game from Uncle Chris.
Once the kids went down for their naps we attacked the house with a vengeance.
There is a blog that Aunt Pammy and I both read called Young House Love and within that blog last week there was a Christmas decorating project that appealed very much to me. I was hoping that Chris would be able to help David with the big ladder. That ladder is so heavy and it just scares me. As it turned out the ladder was completely unnecessary.
I had picked up 9 wreaths and had some leftover grommets and gold etched ribbon, Pammy had some great wider and stronger silver ribbon and some mad bow making skills, David and Chris had tools and a willingness to clamber all over the house hanging Christmas wreathes.
It went beautifully. I am so happy we tried it.
Kiernan's window screen is warped and we couldn't get a wreath on it from the outside or the inside but we are developing a plan to repair the window frame/screen frame that will at some point solve that problem.
We took note of the forecast and moved our cars to the top of the hill because...
On Sunday morning it began to snow. It snowed all day. The kids were so excited. I was so excited too.
Here is a glimpse of the front of the house with wreaths in evidence after about 2 hours of snow.
Sometime before lunch we went out with the sleds and had a grand time. Here is David getting a snootful of snow. Megan has a hard time keeping her mittens on and she runs out of cold tolerance very quickly. She makes many quick trips in and out and in and out. Kiernan is completely happy unless he gets snow down his neck. That has happened twice resulting in great drama and tears.
I got out my skis and zig zagged through the trees.
I feel so happy to be in our own home in the snow.
