Happy Easter

First of all please join me in wishing Erena happy 4th birthday.

Can you believe I drove home through sleet and ice again this week?!? My poor strawberries shrivled frm the size of Kiernan's open hand to the size of Megan's closed fist. This is the point where you get to shout at the sky "Oh come on!" and no one looks at you funny.

Last weekend Aunt Ruthie came by and picked up a crib for Kaleb so we are now able to empty out Megan's closet and start working on her room decoration again. She quite likes the new open space, which should if all goes well become a pink reading nook with nifty little play house.

The main even of the week of course was Easter.

We got up on Saturday morning and instead of tball and yard work we got down to the serious business of Easter egg dyeing. The kids both did some cool colors and made big plans for their egg hunt. Kiernan even dyed one for his cousin Kaleb (which he managed to remember on the day.).

Kiernan had the rather specific and easily foreseen, if only I had foresight, experience of 'getting' the religious aspect of Easter this year. He was made movingly sad that Jesus, who was such a nice guy and didn't even do anything wrong got killed. He was understandably confused by the sacrificial aspect. He also was morbidly fascinated by the Crucifixion.
This made for a number of deep and completely unexpected conversations over the weekend.
We also of course talked about the other meaning of Easter with some dicey fertility lines to balance things out.

Then it was yard work for all, with David at the wood chips and mom with the leaf blower and everyone except Megan doing a bit of everything in the outdoors.

Indoors the plants are doing well in their greenhouse and the limes are coming on.

On Sunday morning we headed to Scearce's for the Easter egg hunt. Kiernan wore one of his new school ready shirts and his Easter hat. David feels that Kiernan is now a Blues Brother.

The kids frolicked in the daffodils where Megan discovered that flowers that go up to your chest are tricky to run through.

After a little swinging (and an inattentive mommy checking her phone every 2 minutes),

I went out to hide the eggs. There were some easy ones in deference to Megan being only 2

and a few harder ones. Check out that egg/stone match.

One as always in memory of Socrates.

The kids picked teams. Kiernan was fully team daddy, as he has been for the last few weeks. I love the daddy phase. David is so awesome and such a great dad. It is wonderful to see him getting the attention he deserves from his progeny.
After the egg hunt we split up into the hungry, the sleepy, and the lets play some more camps.

We had a rousing game of tball in which every camera wielding adult was made too busy to take a picture and then we gathered round for the formal group shots.

The Moms and Kids
The Dads
The Scearce's

This is one of those shots that reveals how much we build out own families. I am related by blood to 3 people here and one of them is holding the camera (thanks Nana). I am however family to every one in every shot.

We drove home hopped up on Chocolate bunnies.

I have been having some really rough anxiety again lately but looking at these pictures reminds me, as always, of how lucky I am in my life and my family.

Happy Easter Everybody.

Beautiful pictures, Darling! What a wonderful Easter for the Kuehnert clan!! Literally laughed out loud at the part about shaking your fist at the sky & shouting "Oh, come on!" About the stubborn winter weather. :) ! The kids are wonderful, as always, and you and David are truly amazing! Love you all! Big kudos to Nana and the Scearces!!!

Socrates was on of the cats. He was a big gray fluffy monster who had the most gentle and nurturing manner. He adopted abandoned kittens and pretended he was a lap cat and was wonderful. He is buried under the cat statue. You know that Scearce's have had many many cats but he is the only one who ever got a headstone.

Wrapping up?
