I spent a great deal of time this week filling out paperwork for Kiernan's school application. They handed me a folder with about 10-12 pages to fill out plus a list of required identification and vaccination verification forms to bring back. This is a fairly complicated process and one which represents such a monumental change to our lives. I have had a lot of school on the brain this week. I am thinking about how tired he is going to be even if everything goes perfectly. I am thinking about what we can do to help prepare him for being away from home and family all day (well 9 am-3:30 pm anyway). I am thinking about how bereft Megan is going to feel without her brother. I am thinking about how much easier it is going to be for Nana with just Megs to watch over. I am thinking about how this transition went for me and for David and trying to decide if there is anything useful to be taken from it. I am having Kiernan work on his scissor skills because, on the list of expected skills they gave us, that is his weakest point.
wow school...
The weather got warm enough for everyone to want to be outside most for most of the week.
Megan seems to be getting a new tooth so we got some frozen strawberries and it was strawberries and sunshine for all.
I think he will quite enjoy it.
Have a look at this video to see what its like.
On Friday we went to see Grandma and Grandpa. We all ate left over Easter candy and played out in the sunshine.
Then Megan had a nap and I went shopping and Kiernan hung out with Grandpa for a while.
Saturday was the first official game of the tball season.
It went extremely well. They don't keep score in T-Ball and the game is about 4 innings long, keeping the time down to just under an hour. There are however 2 teams and full uniforms and fielding positions and at bats and it has the structure of a real game.
Kiernan did remarkably well paying attention to the game. It's a huge step from a few weeks ago when he had to have his name called repeatedly to do anything other than watch the flowers grow. He seemed to be enjoying himself and other than the discovery that he has a big head like his father (necessitating a larger batting helmet) it was smooth sailing all around.
Megan and I spent most of the game with lots of other younger siblings down at the playground, by the school. Everyone had a good time and gained a wet butt from the recent rain. We spent the rest of the day just puttering around the house. We emptied out Megan's closet the rest of the way and played Mario Galaxy and ate big tex-mex meals.
On Sunday I took the kids out of the house for some playground and hiking distraction while David transformed Megan's closet into the pink wonderland she has always wanted.
She later showed her appreciation by running back and forth in it yelling "I love pink!".
I am happy that the pink and brown do seem to go well (thank you Martha Stewart paint cards). I think that next week we are going to try to paint the mural of the cherry tree. I also think that this project is giving us all a boost of confidence for tackling house projects.
