A Good Game a Haircut and Mothers Day

Look at this boy paying attention to his game. Last week Kiernan had a great game. He had one of the top hits and he chased down the ball repeatedly.
We were supposed to have the Hit-a-Thon this weekend but the thunderstorm during our scheduled team picture nipped that in the bud.

Megan has a new best friend. Her love of pink is finally matched. Her adoration of animal themed hoodies perfectly complimented. When it was colder Megan wore a bunny eared hoodie and Pipper wore a Cat eared hoodie.
Megan loves Pipper so much she calls most other little girls Pipper too.
They are pretty sweet.

Look at this girl. That is a face that says "Mom! Look at these maniacs I have to live with!".

It went from chilly to sweltering this week and the pool is out in earnest.

Our next door neighbors gave us great fresh eggs again.

The tomatoes and squash are happy and I think this week I will be putting out all the vine plants. We are hoping to get the truck this week so I can try a great arch thing that I saw on YouTube.

The flowers look fantastic and the kids are picking bouquets for the house every few days.

In very exciting news the wisteria has arrived. I love the look of wisteria flowers but have been concerned about the invasive nature of the usual Chinese/Japanese types. I was so very pleased therefore to get a hold of this native version.

I took two of the leftover panels of crosshatching from under the deck and nailed them to the fence to act as temporary trellis. I also planted some wonderful Solomon Seal and some Astilbe's.
Grandma Scearce got me the Solomon Seal for Mothers Day after I mentioned how delicious it was.

In 4th and 5th grade we did a week of outdoor school. In those weeks we studied (among other things) wild edible plants. It was a life changing experience. Most of the time when I walk around outside I am thinking about how the vegetation stacks up taste-wise.

We got some Astilbe for Grandma Scearce for Mothers Day and the kids helped me pick it out. They liked it so much they wanted some of their own.
We now have purple Astilbe and light pink Astilbe.

On Saturday in addition to gardening we went to cartoon cuts for Kiernan to lose his flowing locks and get his summer cut.
He loves getting his hair cut and was very excited. Megan was excited too but absolutely refused to have her hair cut. She didn't really need a cut anyway. What she did want was to be admired by all the staff in the hair cutting place. She grabbed a toy hair dryer and twirled and danced in her Tutu and ballet slippers. She was applauded and cooed over to her great satisfaction.
We did some serious Minecraft and Super Mario Galaxy playing and Kiernan expressed some true gamer outrage as evidenced above.

On Mothers Day I got breakfast in bed and a wonderful set of cards and a new Teaching Company lecture that I am all excited about.
We hung out and played games and David cleaned the kitchen from stem to stern and then we went to see the newest mom of our bunch.
A very special Happy Mothers Day to you Aunt Pammy!
