To The Zoo

T-Ball still means play ground for Megan and actual playing T-Ball for Kiernan.

This week I was the bringer of snack for 10 Sluggers. I was excited and confused about this. One of the kids has some food allergies which include among the more known peanut and tree-nut allergies one for oranges. I was afraid this might indicate citric acid sensitivity and many many things have citric acid. I got goldfish and gummy bunnies. It went over well and it was gratifying to see Kiernan so excited by my involvement.

I got some free and much desired baby hosta plants from grandma Scearce. I am working on a transformation of two semi bare areas in the yard and hosta are so beautiful and so amenable to partial shade that I have high hopes for this batch.
My dad came by this week and planted a number of beautiful Heavenly Bamboo near the hot tub area. I showed him around the yard in hopes that he would share my enthusiasm for my new projects and for how the yard is shaping up. It was great to see someone else impressed by the apple trees.

On Saturday we went to the zoo.

Here is David at the zoo as a tot.

Here is an attempt at its recreation with Kiernan.

The two together.

The kids liked the zoo statues as much as the zoo animals I think.
It is challenging taking the kids to the zoo.

We always have fun. It's the hour plus drive and the 22 dollar parking fee and the nap before noon that complicate things.

We had a zoo picnic and we saw a beautiful peacock and elephants and the pandas and some lovely otters. Megan had a meltdown and Kiernan showed a remarkable lack of endurance for hiking around the zoo.
We need to work on his marching endurance and whining.

We spent the rest of the weekend doing yard work. Aunt Judy came over and we watched Sherlock and Elementary. We made limoncello and chai and I broke a plate and poor David sliced up his hand cleaning it up.
