Last week we had rain that turned to ice that turned to snow. It rained for a few hours and iced for a few hours and then it snowed for most of a day. The driveway became a crazy dangerous place.
The snow for an hour or so, melted the ice so there was some slush, deceptive to my work which refused to close.
I have hardly ever been so mad to hear about liberal leave.
I dragged my feet to spend as much time with David and the kids (all of whom had a snow day)as possible. Happily for me, my procrastination payed off and they finally closed my work before I left.
Halfway through the week we started letting Pax walk outside off the leash. That puppy was one stir crazy animal.
She helped us clear the drive and she tackled the kids and generally exhausted herself.
Her stitches come out this week.
It kept on snowing.
I stared at my tomatoes and thought springish thoughts.
We took some walks to get outdoors but for a while it was freezing cold.
In fact, it was colder than freezing.
By the time the snow stopped it was too deep for Pax to get out to do her important dog business.
We shoveled a path on the deck and wondered about the weight of all that snow on the wood.
Driven indoors, we paid some serious attention to the laundry and I took the chance for some rest for my bad cold.
The cleaning fairy arrived to lend a hand.
It started to warm up by Friday and the kids started showing signs of both my cold and Pax's stir crazy.
We ran for relief to Frederick and to Chuck E. Cheese. The kids had wanted to go with daddy and for once on a weekday that had him. It was a blast!
There was some good physical activity.
Kiernan scored a goal or two against Homer.
Megan smashed some Aliens.
Megan had the time of her life on the mini carousel and Kiernan monopolized his father for some serious gaming action. Plus they got to eat pizza and win prizes.
When we got home we did more indoor cold weather things.
I made stew.
We did art.
Look at my awesome watercolor of the driveway.
Kiernan displayed his humor by making "ART" and Megan finger painted her paper and the table and the dog.
As a special treat for Pancake day I added Pear Skulls to the Menu.
Megan has seen the light and now loves tea. This is very handy for her cold. Also my teacup is nearly the size of her head and it is adorable watching her drink from it.
We took a little field trip to a garden center.
They asked Megan when she walked in if she was going to make a fairy garden. She said yes and looked baffled. Then she saw that they had a beautiful fairy garden all set up.
It was mesmerizing for all of us to see the green and think of spring.
