Happy Easter

Happy Easter!

This week we had a mostly successful trip to the dog park. For Pax it was entirely successful. For Kiernan dragged over and drug along the asphalt by Pax in her enthusiasm it was slightly less successful.

It started to get really warm just in time for spring break.

The flowers on the front walk started blooming.

Megan found her T-Ball park again.

Kiernan is still very into T-Ball this year. I have decided to show him kid safe baseball movies. If you can think of any that work for a 6 year old please email me a list.

Pax, born in the early fall and not really free to roam until it was cold, is amazed and thrilled by the warmth. She has had a lot of time playing with the neighbor puppy and a lot of time laying in the sun watching the chickens.
She seemed a little sick after her monthly heart-worm/flea and tick treatment. I was worried by her good behavior and low energy but she seems normal again now.

I was stoked to discover the Sorrel made it through the winter!

It even got warm enough to take the plants outdoors.

On Friday we went out to Noodle's and Company.

On Saturday we dyed eggs.

Also on Saturday we went to Southern States to pick up some of my new fruit trees.
There was bonus kids Easter activity stuff there.

Kiernan was very helpful and kept me good company while I planted the Red Heaven peach tree.

We spent a while on Saturday talking about Passover and about Jesus and about fertility holidays. It was a very theological day. I wonder about how it was all received. We have been talking a lot about the 10 Commandments all week and last week about Palm Sunday. Kiernan carried his bible around and wanted to take it to Southern States.
I think it went well.
There were macaroons and chocolate bunnies and eternal life to consider. That's bound to get anyone into a celebratory mood.

David was (need I say it?) a prince all weekend. This man who dose not love the out of doors and dose not care for gardening spent so much of the weekend hauling mulch and creating a new elevated bed and clearing the yard! Thank you David!!!

I even got to plant my beautiful new Cherry tree. I have 2 more Cherry varieties coming but its been so cold that they haven't shipped yet.
Let me say a word here for Southern States.
Last year I got trees from 3 local suppliers and only those from Southern States seem strong. In fact only one died and the Tractor Supply trees all died.

Here's to years of pies to come!

The main event dawned warm and sunny. The kids were happy to be at Scearce's.

But really it was all about the egg hunt.

We ate a Breakfast of David's moms jello salad and Kathryn's moms apple waffles and Aunt Licia's lemon shortbread cookies and pancakes and hot cross buns.
YUM!

I pursued my Easter tradition of scooping up some tadpoles.
This year I have offered some to Kiernan's school and will be sending some in with him once Spring Break is over.

Then it was back home to put the peas in the ground and write a 5 page paper on Scorpion toxin cabbages for my biology class.
