Picnic at the lake

This week was beach week for Kathryn, Erena and Yoshi.
Here is a Japanese beach treat.

On Friday I took the kids to the park. We also went to Target to get Megs a treat for a week of no toilet accidents.
We have thrown out all the diaper pails and are giving away diapers to anyone who can use them.
Next week we are getting rid of the training pottys.
Oh Man!
The park has a boat entry to the Monocacy river and we spent as much time in the water as we did at the playground.
The kids were so happy to be in the river that I decided that we needed to have water side weekend.

So on Saturday we went to the lake at Cunningham falls for a breakfast picnic and some swimming with Uncle Chris, Aunt Pammy and Cousin Kaleb.
Aunt Lore joined us and we made it a birthday picnic as well.

Megan went 'fishing' with a stick. Kiernan ate like a starving man.
He has been eating pretty much nonstop for the last 3 or 4 days.

All Megan really wanted to do was get into the water.
Happily all the Florida laundry has been done and her floaty suit was ready.

Kiernan helpfully threw sand around while Uncle Chris built the goopy sandcastle of Doom.
Naps were pushed back in an irresponsible manner but we still had to leave all too soon.
We stopped at Pryors Orchard to pick up some summer corn and some tomatoes.
These were so fresh and so ripe and sweet that even the kids ate tomato sandwiches with a will.

David made a birthday cake with a little help from Megan and we all sang Happy Birthday to Aunt Lore.

Then there was the annual zooming around the table to dispel the sugar.

On Sunday we went to Scearce's to give daddy a little down time (which he took to dissemble and work on the dishwasher and the washing machine).
We saw Monarch's in every stage but egg. Their eggs are so tiny I might have seen those too and just not noticed.

We went to see Grandma's garden and be amazed by her greenest of all green thumbs.

We even saw the Mothers Day garden of potatoes deliver.

Plus her pride of place asparagus looking amazing.
She is putting so much work into her asparagus beds!
It seems to be paying off.

I went home inspired and mowed and weeded till sunset.
