Baseball season has begun for Kiernan. Megan's starts next week.
This year he will be doing a few new things, primarily there is no more tee. It is to be machine pitch but on the first practice there was no machine, which resulted in Kiernan getting his knuckles smashed by the pitcher. Oooww
He cried and got called a cry baby and I got mad and hoped he didn't hear it....I'd like to have the name caller feel the smash of baseball on hand to see how he would take it. grrr
Still he said he enjoyed the practice.
Our work schedules are different from last year so David will be Kiernan's primary baseball parent this season. I think that will be great for both of them.
I took Megan back to the lake and Target and the cafe to see if she would like it better with a less upset stomach.
She ate well and her only major concern was the temperature on her hot chocolate.
She always wants to fish when we get near water so we spent some very windy chilly time poking sticks into the lake.
She was very happy.
We celebrated Pi day in style on Monday. I had two pies at work and two at home and a pizza pie to round it out.
It was a fundraiser night for Kiernan's school and we went to a local pizza place that I have not been impressed with for supper. I am happy to report that their plain cheese pizza is very tolerable
On Saturday we went to celebrate Grandma Scearce's 80th birthday. I also went to admire her plants. They are always impressive. Her peppers are bigger and finer than I have ever seen them.
While there we borrowed the truck for a run to the dump for both families and for hauling some trees that my dad picked up for our soon to be privacy hedge.
Kiernan went with me to get the trees and he was actually fairly helpful. It started snowing about an hour into our 3 hour trip. The roads were warm though so we didn't have any difficulty. When we got home it was just starting to stick.
Above the 6 Leyland Cyprus and the 2 pecan trees that will go into the ground shortly.
My poor daffodils.
On Sunday Kiernan had a birthday party to go to for one of his Cub Scout buddies.
It was at the local bowling alley. He was very excited to go and when we walked into the place his best friend Alex rushed him with joy and told him it was his turn.
Kiernan promptly spun around and buried his face in my jacket. Too much noise and too many people and too much something. So I walked with him and bowled the first ball and sat nearby. and after some significant retreat and some sitting on my lap he slowly got into it. By the end of the bowling section he and Alex were squabbling about how may turns had been taken and yelling about scores and bemoaning their starving state. Then there was pizza and punch and cake and joy.
Carter is now 7 and a very happy birthday to him and gratitude to his mom Angie for the fun.
Meanwhile back at the lake...
Megan was helping to paint her new Kura bunk bed.
David as usual worked all day at a project. He primed and painted and prepared to assemble.
It looked very nice indeed.
In Japan someone has apparently grown too much hair.
See you in July Erena.
