This week Megan got to move into her big girl bed.
She says its like sleeping in the clouds. When she asks me to come into her bed and give her a snuggle it creaks alarmingly and i thing we should use the reading nook underneath for that sort of activity from now on...we are in negotiations.
The week began with big trucks and heavy equipment and the clearing of many trees.
I made up a very rough design for what we should do with all that extra space. Check here in August to see if we get a pool a fire a twisty slide and a trampoline back there.
The guys that did our trees last time (Dubois Tree Service) came again and once again did an exceptional job.
They took down trees and cut up the wood and dropped it over the fence for our neighbors. They mulched the limbs and left it in a heap for me and they ground the stumps leaving the ground soft.
This pile of mulch should be all across the gardens beds and new trees by the end of April.
Kiernan had spring break and was able to watch all the noise with his nose pressed metaphorically to the windows all day. Megs got bored pretty quickly.
Mom took them to the library for a cool science day. The library had a 3D printer and a program wherein the kids could design and 3D print small things.
Both kids made bubble blowers.
Kiernan also made a spider web.
Both kids are very into spiders just now.
I wish I had been able to see it and am glad mom got pictures.
The weather went up and down.
Just look at those tomatoes soaking up the sun.
On Friday we went downtown to see the Cherry Blossoms.
We made it down in great time and drove through rain showers to be there in time for a little sun.
We got breakfast at Dunkin Doughnuts. We wondered beneath the trees and looked at the river and played at the park at Hains Point.
I took a few pictures that looked great in real life and only OK in the camera and sort of bla on this screen. Just imagine sunlight and river and beautiful blossoms.
When we got home I decided to try to add a little grass seed to the muddy bare patches and recently dug up parts.
I haven't seeded grass before and am very interested to see how it will turn out.
On Saturday we got super busy. In the morning we went to the dump. It wasn't too expensive. Also we had a ton of stuff to get rid of plus stuff from Scearces. It looks much better under the deck with the broken kiddie pool gone and the many chewed up things (thanks Pax) cleared out.
We went from there to Aunt Judy's parents hose to show off the kids and visit with Judy before she returned to Kansas.
Then we went to Ikea for a few things to finish off Megan's bed and for lunch.
Kiernan got sick.
When we got home we planted new trees where the old trees had been.
Ha
We took two scraggly pines out from between our house and the Kilgores house. Now we have more intentional privacy style trees going up.
The ground is full of shale and hard to dig and poor David got a quite a blister on his hands but all the adults on both sides are very happy with how things look.
I hope the trees do well.
We watered the heck out of them. We covered them with our new mulch.
Then we hauled away the two newly filled rock buckets.
Then once Megan got up from her nap and Kiernan was recovered from his being sick we dyed Easter eggs.
This year we did sparkly eggs. They looked quite good.
On Sunday morning we went to Scearces for the Easter egg hunting and waffle eating.
We brought Pax.
I was worried about doing so because we were going to be around Chris and Pammy and Kaleb and I feel like she was quite rude to Chris plus bothered by him.
So I asked and he said go ahead and bring her and that he wasn't bothered.
So I brought her, much to Davids annoyance, and she was quite good.
She was excited by the egg hunt and attempted to join in.
It was a miraculous year as the kids got the same number of eggs and there was no chest pounding, "I win and you lose" end to the festivities.
Kaleb even found quite a few. His basket was practically as big as his whole body and it dragged along behind him adorably.
I dressed the kids up because Easter.
It was a little chilly so they were semi covered with jackets but still bright and springy.
In the end we counted up and took a group photo and ate some great fruit salad and waffles while they gorged on chocolate.
We hung out and did family catch up things and then poor Aunt Pammy had to go to work and Megan had to get to her nap and we wrapped the whole thing up with piles of leftovers for all and huge thanks to Scearces for hosting us.
Happy Easter everybody.
