The Vacation of Flexibility

Our great vacation plans had to start with the excellent dropping off of Pax to my dads house. This plan was excellent in that it saved us tons of money and in that it gave Pax some freedom and love and even a professional cousin Katie to play with.

Our plan was to go camping on the outter banks. We decided to stop off at Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa Rumford's.
This trip included me and the kids and mom and a very full jeep with a roof pack stuffed with camping gear.

The kids had such a good time with them last month that they were very excited to try it again.

We bonded and rode the boat and swam in the pool. The kids got to eat some more fish much to their joy.

We spent the night and headed off to Nags head.

The ocean was beautiful. I got a great sub.
It was hot and we discovered that storms were on their way.
I had of course checked the weather before we left.
When I check it the forecast promised no risk of rain above 30% on any day.
By the time we got down there those risks had jumped up to 60-80%.

So we enjoyed the perfect beach for a short while then piled into the car and drove for ever and ever all the way home.

We thought about camping at a beach further north but it seemed chancy and Kiernan was missing his daddy very much.
We spent the rest of the week doing day trips and having fun but not (greatly to poor Nana's angst) camping on any beaches.

We went to Baltimore and played at Port Discovery and ate Tex/Mex food.

We went to Sandy Point and splashed in the water.

I took the kids to Golden Corral. They were dazzled by the plenty. They were astounded by the chocolate fountain. They were deeply divided by the fried okra.

We played a great deal of Pokemon Go!

We went to a great indoor pool/splash park and rode water slides.
We decided that we should never ever vacation without daddy again.
We decided to try camping again .
We decided that vacation is better than most other things.
