So School started last week.
Kiernan set off with a good will and a great deal of enthusiasm.
He came home barfy and exhausted.
He threw up throughout the night and well into the next morning.
So he didn't go to his 2nd day of school.
We called the pediatrician to ask if we could up the dose of his acid reducer.
They said yes and be sure to see the specialist.
We will of course see the specialist.
I have been thinking about dietary changes to help him out.
The first is that I am going to concentrate on the nutrients he is loosing by throwing up so much. He is getting a lot of dried apricots currently. He loves them and potassium is useful in these circumstances.
I have also decided to go with his fishy desires.
I spent a few days looking around online to find out what kind of fish can be purchased that doesn't hammer the oceans and have landed for the time being on Gortons because of their sustainability efforts.
Wish us luck.
Its fish sticks for the Kuehnert's.
I got two huge zucchinis this week and gave one to a friend at work and will be making a ton of zucchini bread over the weekend.
I added antlers to my cube at work.
I am rather pleased by this idea.
My grandpa Rumford gave me these when I was around 12.
They are cool.
We suspected that the back to school transition would be a rocky one so we scheduled Kathryn and Erena's time at Scearces to begin this week.
I am not sure if it made much difference honestly.
The kids were happy with company and I don't think there was much stress from that. On the other hand it was easier to get some quiet time for homework I suppose.
Look at this studious boy.
Kathryn and I went out on Thursday to Spa World.
They were having a buy one get one free admission sale.
I was in the pool and hot tubs for about an hour before I went to lay on the mats and relax.
Kathryn woke me about an hour and a half later.
HA!
I really needed that.
In the greatest of all news Megan started school on Friday!!!!
She loved it.
She was not afraid at all.
She introduced herself to every living soul.
She really helped Kiernan with the home to school transition by giving him a task.
He held her hand and walked her to her class. That helped both of their confidence levels.
She loves her teacher (who reminds me of my grandma Rumford) and she loves her classmates.
While she was in class (9am-1130 am) I went running.
I had planned to go to work for a few hours but instead I took the dog out to a great new path that Kathryn and I found for running.
It was exhausting.
The no sugar thing has helped the chest pains quite a bit so I can push a lot harder now in the work out arena.
Oh boy.
I walked Pax from our house to the end of the trail and then took her off the leash and ran walked with her back.
she was very good. It took about and hour and a half.
Megan drew this picture of David on her first day.
It displays his curly hair (which she has never seen).
She says that it will remind her of the good times they had together when he is dead.
!!!
After school we went to Columbia mall to meet Erena and ride the carousel.
Over the weekend we had a big family bbq with Scearce's at Wheaton regional park.
Kiernan partied hard while waiting for the train.
On Sunday we went to the Renaissance Fair.
The original plan was to do a 10 mile race in Annapolis.
Licia has a bad leg and I am in no shape for it.
The Renaissance Fair was an excellent choice.
We rented pink costumes for the girls.
We saw fencing (the Steel Sisters).
We were all particularly pleased to see the wheel of death guy was back this year.
There were a few opportunities for shade and photos,
and thanks to aunt Kathryn there was money shelled out for the kids to try the crossbows.
We also got to try (thanks to Krishna's recommendation) the Bee Sting (half mead half hard cider).
Its nice to find new things and familiar things each time.
We love the Renaissance Fair.
