Sayonara

After delighting Erena with the local fauna we decided to steam broil the whole family in one long hot evening of cookout

with s'mores

and enthusiastic jumping around.

It was too hot but it was their last night and I had promised the girls a fire with marshmallows.

Kiernan and David shook their heads at our foolishness and retreated indoors for some quality time on the computer.

Kathryn and Erena went back to Japan.

They flew into a big typhoon according to the weather.

Boo on so many counts.

They are now safe at home and fighting the jet lag. 

This week we had back to school night.

There were many tables to lure parents but the one with Kiernan's Pack-Master got my attention.

I have been writing small articles for local papers for a bout a year now about cub scouting and this week I did a recruitment piece and was quite curious if these writings would have any effect.

Its hard to say how things would have been different with out the articles but the numbers are up so I feel hopeful and helpful.

We met with both kids teachers and heard about the curricula.

We went to the library (Media center) and took this important shot of us on the moon.

We thought hopeful thoughts about how the year might go.

Both teachers seemed nice. Kiernan really likes his. Megan really likes everything.

Currently she is really liking her new dress and shoes.

Currently I am really liking this new path that we found.

This goes from the hidden park all the way to our house.

Its about a mile and a half long each way and we walked it multiple time this weekend.

David even ran it.

The dog is very happy.

Our 2 major projects for the week have been clearing up the shoe area by the door and fixing the porch swing.

Megan helped me put together these two IKEA end tables that Kathryn and I bought.

I cleared out the old shoe area.

I also cut and resewed the middle porch swing cushion to fir.

Then Kiernan and I tested it out.

Do far so good.

David cut and affixed and stained the top of the end tables.

We put them in place.

Now imagine them shorter and whiter and with a sort of frame around them.

Now put on some new hardware.

Never mind just go to this site to see what we are going for.

For the time being the shoes are in the drawers and not tripping me up when I enter and exit the house so all is well.
