My new hosta bed is doing OK-ish. The poor hosta are suffering from my hornet dilemma. They would quite like some mulch. The hornets have claimed the mulch.
As it is I am watering them quite a bit in the evenings.
The first corner got some mulch just before the great yellow jacket attack of 2016 and those actually have some new growth and seem pretty happy.
The kids are doing fairly well. Kiernan is experimenting with a new look.
This is called rock and roll guitar guy hair.
We had a bit of a slow down at work so Krishna decided to give us some lessons on the whys and wherefores of what we are doing.
Its quite enjoyable. I hope it keeps up.
I am all about the whys and wherefores.
We tried a few avenues of attack against the yellow jackets.
We tried boiling water directed to their nest to some success.
We tried Kiernan's new bow to very little effect.
It was pretty satisfying to see the little blighters float up to the top of the wheelbarrow inoffensively dead and folded in two.
My friend Michelle sent me this great comic this week.
I have been having a fair amount of anxiety of late and with it some chest pains.
I am usually sure(ish) that the chest pains are just from the anxiety but whenever I get them I turn hypochondriac and obsessively check my pulse and feel sure I am about to die.
It occurred to me that perhaps some of the problem might be addressed dietarily (heartburn?).
I am cutting out deserts and soda and juice and seeing if I can improve the whole situation, I'm trying to add a fair amount of yogurt too. Yogurt is good right?
It seems to be helping and I have been able to run more because of it.
I am woefully out of shape for running.
This might help me correct that though.
When I had all my big panic stuff 2 years ago and my heart was checked out then, to good report, so unless there has been some major change this may solve a great deal of the problem.
On Friday I took the kids to the airport to pick up Kathryn and Erena.
After 14 hours in the air and a bunch of typical travel mishaps they were ready for a treat so we went to Red Robin and met up with sisters and cousins and friends.
The kids seem to be getting on really well so far. They remember each other fondly and can do a lot with gestures and silly faces.
Erena and Megan are all about the trampoline.
Kiernan is in and out as his stomach allows and his temperament dictates.
On Saturday we suited up in protective gear and had at the hornets again.
Kathryn had on a huge leather jacket and good thing too because they really went after her.
She didn't get a single sting but we had to pull quite a few out of her jacket where they had impaled themselves vengefully.
David took advantage of the dry weather to paint the deck.
I watched the Olympics and hung out with the kids and brought Kiernan changes of buckets as needed.
He now has an appointment with a pediatric Gastroenterologist.
Poor little guy.
