Megan turned 5 this week.
Her birthday landed smack dab in the middle of the week so she had a small family birthday on Wednesday and received her much desired Star Lily the magical unicorn.
She got it first thing in the morning and pretty much hasn't put it down since.
Kiernan got her a Palace Pet pirate thing that she quite loves.
She also got to go for a field trip on her birthday.
She also got the sniffles.
David got nervous about having people over and we got a rug cleaner from the grocery store.
The rug cleaner made a nice difference but gracious those things are expensive.
It got us talking seriously about when we are going to redo the floors and get rid of the carpets...
big project on the horizon.
For Megan's birthday Aunt Pammy took us out to a Disney on Ice show.
We drove to Baltimore and chatted and crossed our fingers about Megan's blooming earache.
I splurged on gimmicky Disney stuff and Megan was completely dazzled by the whole thing.
She wanted to get on that ice so badly!
At one point (and I think on some level we can all identify with this) she became so overcome with the power of the show that she stood straight up thrusting her ice queen wand valiantly in the air before her.
She held this pose for most of an entire song with her eyes locked on the ice skaters.
Afterward we went to Lush and got special bath bombs and ice cream at the mall.
Aunt Pammy dose birthdays right let me tell you!
Megan went home and feel to sleep for the next 4 hours.
The next day was warm and clear and we went out to the park to ride bikes (Megan wanted to go ice skating but the hours weren't quite right for it.
After about 5 minutes there in which Kiernan had one near death crash and several wheee down the ramp runs Megan asked to go home while holding her ear.
She was out.
Her ear and her throat were killing her.
We gave her some ibuprofen and a nap and crossed our fingers for the party.
She was pretty much ok for the party.
She was a little serious and (for her) subdued.
She was so happy to be the center of attention.
She was happy with her cake and her family and forgave me for forgetting to give her classmates their invitations on time.
I will arrange a play date soon to make up for it.
She was especially happy to try on her cool new princess dresses.
Happy 5th birthday MEGAN!!!
