Progress?

I have been trying to take one beautiful picture for my instagram. I am trying to appriciate the things around me and be more aware of details. This week was tricky for me with  too much focus on the big picture and it all got sort of overwhelming.
I am hoping the flowers will help that. There is a link to my instagram account
on the side bar.

Kiernan has another strange dental issue. He thought that the tooth under his silver cap was loose so we went to the dentist to check it out.
They took an xray and said that the tooth under his cap is desolving. They said that they would have to remove it as it posed a risk for infection.
600 dollars.
They put him on the emergency call list in-case they got any cancellations.
We managed to not miss any school for this because this week was the week of Fair Day.

I love so much that Frederick school kids get a day off every year to go to the fair. They even get in free.
Some tolorate the smells ofthe fair more than others.
Kiernan wishes to see no poultry because of the smell.
Megan just likes to make bird noises and especially to pet the bunnies.
You will not be surprised to know that Megan now wants a pet bunny.

Kiernans fear of rides is still going strong.
He was willing to do a few climbing things. Megan on the other hand is ready for as many rides as she can get on.

She crazy!

We got some rain to go with our heat and so some neat mushrooms sprouted up in the yard.

On the weekend Kiernan felt very sick (and missed a big Cub Scout camping trip) but wanted to join us at bagel city and guitar centre.
It was touch and go and buckets in the car but it worked out.

My strawberries decided to come out again in the heat.

Kiernan had (finally!) his next gastroendeterologist appointment .
It was scary and painful for him. He got instructions to go for blood tests and prep for a colonoscopy and an endoscopy. That is a rough load for a little guy.

He continued to feel ill.
Mom thought we should have him checked for diabetes. She got him an appointment at his paediatrician.  He got to take his first pee in a cup test.

His blood sugar is fine. So that is a good sign. He had a fever.

I took him to urgent care where he was diagnosed with strep throat. This of course landed on the day the dentist called us for an opening for his tooth extraction.

The dentist said that they couldn’t take care of Kiernan's tooth
until he's been on antibiotics for at least two days.
Of course we planned to leave for Disney in 2 days.

Megan got to start Girl Scouts.
I have a lot of thoughts about Girl Scouts vs Boy Scouts. The first few observations go like this. The Boy Scouts is an inherently conservative (psuedo militaristic) organization while The Girl Scouts are widely known to be a rather liberal group (civil rights minded with ERA leanings). On the other hand both organizations are primarily volunteer run and it is impossible for the personal leanings of the leaders to not filter into the day to day meetings. Our Cub Scout leaders are politically mixed with a neutral to very slight liberal leaning. Our Girl Scout leaders are deeply conservative.
Megan's first meeting was focused and unflinchingly hands on. The theme of the evening was honesty and fairness and after a few minutes of story the girls played a few games with the express purpose of letting them loose gracefully. Megan did admirably. Some of the girls did not. I approved
of the lessons and of the sportsmanship but it was rougher than anything I saw from Cub Scouts.
The girls (other than Megan) were unaccompanied and unconcerned) at the same age (and in the same place and with kids of some of the same families) the boys were heavily supervised individually by their respective parents.
I think I am going to enjoy seeing the differences between these groups very much. I like them both but so far they are strikingly unalike

Megans marigolds came up and the rest of ours didn’t. She has been bragging about her green thumb. It is funny and seems to be true.

She asked me where babies come from so we read the book. She wants to know about the other way babies are made that involves eating too much. I am attempting to dissuade her from that version of events.

The leaves are starting to turn despite the heat.

Kiernan is done with exams for the time being. We even managed to get his blood work done.

I gave myself a black eye and scared myself silly. We were moving a bookshelf at work and when I tilted the dolly a metal thing slid off the top and nearly hit me in the eye. I had to fill out a 2 page incident reoprt.
I bled for a bit and it looked gross and was super tender for a few days. David said that Mickey Mouse will believe that I am a battered spouse. Ha

The kids were tired and though with the week before it was done with them and on Friday I fought the grumps with fresh biscuits and gravy. It wast an unalloyed success but at least we all made it into school and work on our last day before vacation.
