Happy Halloween 2017

We got the front walk all spooky and with the help of a timer and projector had a great bat light show and constantly flickering jack-o-lanterns going.

I got a potluck and costumes at work.

I'm in the back with the orange shirt on that official Qiagen Instagram pick.

I took on a big project fro Cub Scouting. Behold the Mount Airy Library display case.
I reserved it months ago and this week a mom from pack 460 and I filled it up with fun/informative Cub Scout stuff.

Attempting to drum up some interest in our community though display is my new bag.

I got amazing glowy shoes just in time for trick or treating.

We went to two neighborhoods this year. The first was our usual and the next was to visit one of Kiernans friends (whose neighborhood was also fantastic).
We got lots of candy but didnt freeze or tire ourselves out this year.
It was good.
Kiernan built his own costume out of constructin paper and tape. He was Luigi from Super Mario brothers. I was so proud of him. We couldnt find the one he wanted so he just made it himself for a buck 80 and he was happy. He got recognized by various gaming dads too.
Megan was no holds bared out for the candy but was sweet at every door and always said thank you. I was really pleased with the whole evening.

I wore this mask plus a green cloak and some very bright shoes (see above).

The kids got busy with their keep and trade piles straight away once we got home.

The next day was hat day at school so it was like an extra dress up importunity. Megan loved it. Kiernan wore his home made Luigi hat.

The trees are beautiful now and the weather is getting colder. The walk up to the bus is always done with jacket now.

Over the weekend we did the bag drop off portion of Scouting for Food.
This is my very favorite scouting activity.
I love the boys heloing the community like this. I hope we fill the food bank shelves to overflowing like last time.
...
Last year we did bag drop off then headed out to Kansas for Grandma Dix's funeral.
It is the 1 year anniversary of her death now. It seems a lot longer ago.

After we did that we went to Scearces and worked on the wood pile.

David got a lesson in the log splitter and enjoyed it. He also made a good dent in the unsplit oak that Scearces got from a landscape company looing to get rid of excess wood.

I got to try out a fairly light battery operated chainsaw.

We got to collect more birthday presents for Megan while we were there. Plus We got to play with cousin Kaleb.

Then we took the truck home.

We watched the weather (rainy and foggy) because we were to help my friend Michelle move on Sunday.
We stayed indoors and played Skyrim and super Mario brothers.

The rain stopped and we got down to Gaithersburg with a lot of sliding around (oh I hate wet leaves in that truck).

Michelle got lots of help so we got things done quickly.

That evening we had aunt Lore over and hung out reveling in the fact that mom had overseen a full play date while we were gone. There were 4 crazy children in the house and she fed and entertained them and we didn't have to!

Its time now to enjoy beautiful leaves and even the passing rainbow.
