Spring and yardwork

Cherry leaves and peach blossoms.

Megan got strep throat.

Kiernan made a magic trick.

I am working on some stuff at Haven.

So much so that I broke their band-saw.
I want to get better at using that stuff and am lucky that the break resulted in a lock up rather than a whip around of the blade.
I am trying to do curves. Above you see a set of horse head pan pipes and a viking comb. I am going to eventually do the comb in antler but want to work on it in an easier and more controllable medium so its white boards from home-depot for me.

I got a great opportunity for a date on Friday.
DnD was not on so we went out to a new gastropub called the white rabbit  .
They had this great tree out front.

Then we went walking around Frederick for an hour or so and looked at the flowers and talked. It was a great date!

Over the weekend we did lots of yard-work. David put together the kids Christmas present.

I put up the camping hammock.

Megan helped with construction and learned the different names for crescent wrench and hex wrench.

I worked a little on the under deck with Michelle's help. We put down some pavers and some pea gravel.

I got 50 bucks worth of lavender.

Kiernan helped me line the driveway with it. and it was good and hot on the day we planted.

The metal on the climbing dome got hot but we stress tested it anyway.

We did some hammock testing as well.

In the evening we did hot dogs and marshmallows.

I worked on a much cooler and cloudier day on some habitats that I wanted to put up.

I did both the bee houses and am semi happy with their placement.
They are for mason bees. Those are super pollinators that are local and look like flies and are not aggressive.
They need morning warmth so they want to be south facing.
I'm not too confident about the sheltered from wind and rain aspect for that one on the tree though.

Kiernan got to use some power tools to put a bracket on the back of his bird house.

Then he put up a habitat too.

He was feeling super proud of himself and all his building and environmental skills here.

I haven't gotten my mulch down yet but with the tons of lavender and the hosta coming up everywhere I am pretty happy.
