With Jet Lag and masks to ward off corona virus the Mori's arrived.
There was the reunion with the trampoline and the heavy bags to unload. Our goal for this visit was to work out a lot and not eat too much and to try to find some masks for Yoshi to send to his Chinese coworkers who couldn't work with out them. It was a busy time and a fairly smooth transition into our semi chaotic routine.
My cool Christmas bow came. Its from Alibow and it feel really powerful.
Krishna took Megan climbing.
We are so lucky to have such good role models for our girl.
We went to eat Japanese food that did not (for a change) make Erena scoff.
We had the heavy expenses hit all at once with Megan's orthodonture and Pax's ACL surgery taking place within days of each other.
Megan has a removable lower jaw pallet extender and so far so good as far as pain and cleanliness.
Poor Pax was on pills that she hated so much 3 or 4 times a day for weeks. We tried all sorts of things like cheese and peanut butter and deli slices and none worked well until we switched to cat food. After cat food there is no going back apparently.
As soon as she lost this cone she was much happier though.
Megan and her Girl Scout friends had their Pinewood derby and had a great time.
We celebrated the Japanese holiday of Setsubun.
We wore masks and chased children and had soybeans thrown at us.
We did this at Scearces and bafled Kathryns daddy.
The soybeans tasted a bit like dried but unsalted peanuts.
The snowdrops and lenten roses were out and we thought of spring.
The girls got on really well for this visit and it was fun to watch.
We made Sushi at home
Some veggie and some not and per the tradition we tried to eat a giant piece all at one go.
It was a valiant effort.
The whole thing was really cool and I'm glad the kids get to see/do this kind of thing
Megan and Erena were forces of chaos and slime and mess everywhere they went.
The had fun though and made many strange and wondrous things.
I made the strange and wonderous mashed turnips.
They were good but only a stepping stone to my eventual goal of neeps and tatties.
We went to the gym a good deal (every workday morning at the bare minimum) and took the girls to the pool.
They were doing a pretty butterfly promotional.
Yoshi went home after only a week. He was very worried about the virus.
Turns out he was right to worry.
We did some clothes shopping and by the end of several trips the house held 4 jean jackets.
So sassy
We had a medieval feast at Licia's house and I made these cool Moroccan sweet potatoes with sumac and pomagranets.
Super good.
We got ready for Valentines day and celebrated the earlier sunrises that promised the coming of spring.
I decorated the lab with science valentines.
I was given a very promising set of gifts by my sweet valentine. We are almost ready to start recording some music together.
My snow drops finally started showing up too.
We had at some junkfood and the girls played out in the cold
and the dog started acting like herself again.
On sundays we went running with Licia.
Look how cold it was! I feel very heroic for getting off my butt in weather like that.
We went to Ikea and got tickets for that Easter feast like we did last year.
We met up with Ashish and had Indian food after Ikea.
Spice 6 is cool and creative and i wish we had one in Frederick. I made (custom ordered) a pizza thing with curry and paneer.
