Now we wait outside the grocery store 6 feet apart in our masks. Some of us have gloves. They let in a few at a time and the shelves are definitely not bare except for toilet paper and paper towels.
Its a little warmer but not warm by any means.
The green is out in full force. Lots of pollen but the green is so soothing to the eyes that I hardly mind.
We got these cool curtain stays. We are doing a few cheap upgrades to the house and this is one I am proud of. There is so much more light in the room with the curtains drawn all the way back.
I tried my hand at scrambled tofu this month. I am not a huge fan of tofu but it is fairly unoffensive and I don't eat eggs so I though it might be useful to try these instead.
It worked really well and I used them for fried rice to good effect.
I had a heated argument with the ants in my kitchen over their stealing my great Easter cinnamon rolls.
I only had one and was determined to gorge on them this time so I used up a bit of our precious yeast and made the whole thing again.
They turned out great and we ate them with nary an ant to be had.
We got outside a bit and i got this great shot of the kids being goofy in the hammocks.
David took our cramped office table situation in hand. The kids and I were sharing the plastic table but really Kiernan was sitting on the couch with his laptop and Meg and I were sharing.
He had an idea awhile ago to build us a great custom desk and he turned his plan into action.
I'd like to state for the record that David is amazing.
He wants to do more and put a cool top on it but even in this state we have all the room we need.
While he has building I started painting from a few Youtube tutorials that the Haven was using
I was so supried and happy about how this turned out that I ordered better watercolors and have been doing a few every week. It is so relaxing and rewarding.
The hosta are going crazy and I think I will divied them this year. So if you want some hosta let me know.
The kids planked on the plans and David stress tested it.
We moved into our new spacious digs.
Mom has been doing a ton of yardwork and decided to clean out the shed as well.
She wound up with a very orderly shed and a box of snakes.
I took the family to a cool labyrinth. I had read this cool Smithsonian article and wanted to go and try a few. I figured it would be empty and social distancing would be no problem. Plus the finder said there was on right here in Mount Airy.
I loved it very much. I will go back again soon. You should have a look at the location finder from that Smithsonian article to see if there is one near you.
Megan joined me with the watercolors and we did jellyfish.
Kiernan traced a few storm troopers for us to fill in with nifty new bioms.
My dad sent me this picture of his judgy tree.
I was super happy to see that the figs had not died and got a few trellises from Costco to support them if they get bigger.
Kelsey cam by our place and dropped off these beautiful earrings for Megan and this delicious jam for all of us.
David is working more on his double neck..
Kiernan is building a great base on the haven Minecraft server.
I have been building a fancy house on the same server.
We went on a nice hike to Wolf Rock.
Kiernan complained the whole way.
We fell into a routine of cooking and laptop work. The kids do their school work in the morning and I talk with Kathryn and learn python.
We brought out the seedlings and mom filled a new raised bed.
I did this cool one of the mountain.
David painted with me but with more drama.
I got Indian food including a great flat of mangoes.
I tried my hand at palak paneer.
It went quite well.
David kept up his home improvement kick and replaced the broken screen door by the hot tub.
This one is quiet and the dog can open it.
Megan had a Girl Scout Camp out that got canceled so we threw it ourselves.
We did nature crafts and slept out in the tent for the whole weekend.
Kiernan put up a tent for himself but didn't sleep out.
We had a campfire and made veggie dogs and s'mores.
I took Kiernan on a mother son hike. While Megan had a time day with daddy.
Mom was in the shed getting some pots and got bitten by a snake.
I took her to the ER and they gave her antibiotics.
Poor mom.
Megan and I painted and I love love love her koi.
The snakes came out the next day when it warmed up and Pax found the big one. I took this from the trampoline and Pax was standing a few feet away growling and whining and not knowing what to do.
I don't want to get rid of them because we have mice in the shed and are in the woods but I don't want anyone hurt at all.
For Cincio d Mayo I made lots of tex-mex stuff.
We got some good news about Kiernan.
He was recommended for advanced placement (he will do 7th grade math in 6th grade) in math and HAL for most of his other subjects.
We are very proud of him.
We hope that smaller groups and more focused subjects might make him happy.
Erena had a good children's day. In her fancy tent. She also had her birthday. She is home from school just like our kids.
Megan and I made lemon curd for lemon curd ice cream.
I made ginger cookies to go with it and drove around to drop them off to my friends.
They were delicious.
I even managed to get them to everyone but Alex. Hopefully next batch I will be able to catch her as well.
It got stupid cold and we got several days of freeze warnings. Mom covered up the plants and gardens.
I started a new wall of art behind my computer.
