I am starting to hear about re-openings and going back to work. I am thinking about the things I want to do with the kids before I am not home anymore. One thing I want to do is to take advantage of the warmth to get out hiking and biking more.
We went to Sugarloaf and played a game we have developed called the scarecrow king adventure. Its a little bit D&D and a little bit chose your own adventure. They are loving it and I am coming up with different stories to keep them interested.
The potatoes in the garden are doing really well because potatoes.
The peas and beans just erupted. I am very happy to see them.
Mom did a great job on those.
I am making German foods like this cucumber salad.
The German food I am proudest of though is this Spaetzel from scratch.
The figs are getting bigger.
I made a key chain for work.
The gardens survived the freeze and we took off the plastic coverings.
I made a cool set of sumac hummus sandwiches.
I got serious about biking and got a bike rack and took my bike to the bike shop for a tune up.
Kiernan and I are making big plans for bike adventures. Mount Airy is super hilly so most of our plans are rides in other places.
I worked on skies and clouds.
Kiernan and I took our bikes out for a shake down ride.
He did super well and rode for about 5 miles. This is so much more than what he has been doing riding around the block at home. He seemed completely fine afterward but we got him some padded shorts just incase. He loved the ride.
It was a beautiful day and a little cool.
Mom came in and said that the water to the hose wouldn't shut off. David had some interesting plumbing to do therefore.
I am proud of this painting because I have no purple paint and mixed it pretty well.
For Mothers Day I got mom some plants and David got me some paints This is perfect.
He also got me this cool game called Mill (its also called Nine men's morris). This is a super old game from at least the time of the Roman Empire. It is a lot like a super stratigic version of tic tock toe.
The flowers came out.
I made potato leek soup and used herbs from the back deck.
We got some emails about how the 5th grade graduation would go with everyone social distancing.
They wanted pictures for a slide show and they wanted us to do a door decoration.
Here is my favorite picture. Look at this sweet boy. My goodness I love my kids.
He was a good sport and recreated a shot for me/the slide show.
That hair!

We worked for a good few hours on this door. Nana and Megan and David and I all did something. Their school mascot is a panda and the schools acronym is TRES.
Its almost June. Soon distance learning will be over and work will be back in the lab.
I love being home and will miss teaching the kids and cooking and gardening and going for hike bikes. I do not love the corona virus but i do love the opportunities I've been given because of it. I know we are exceptionally lucky.
