We are now Homeowners!

Yesterday we went to the house for a walk through at 9:30 am. We were supposed to be making sure all of our demands had been met. Mostly I wondered around looking at the yard and going through rooms planning the move. David was responsible and he and Mary went through checklists.

The sellers agent came by to see how it was going. Then we all headed over to the Lawyers for lots of signing.

David and I then went to lunch.

Afterword we went to the hardware store and started Phase II.
So far we have changed some light switch plates and brought over toilet paper and a few toys.
Today we went back and I worked on the yard while David put in some LED light bulbs.
If you don't know about LED light bulbs you should learn about them. They are expensive (between 12 and 50 dollars) and long lasting (14-22 years before you need to change them) and low power usage (lots of numbers to be found here) . They should help us keep our power bills low.
One of our eventual goals is to convert the house to very nearly off grid. It will take a long time and this is a tiny step in that direction but it made me so happy to make the move.
I will probably now interject various house things with all this kid stuff here in the blog.
Tonight once the kids are in bed and I am home from work (I get off around 9 pm on Fridays) I will pack up the kitchen.
Tomorrow I hope to go to Scearce's to borrow the Pick-up truck and then to my Dad and Mary's to get yard tools.
If all goes well we will move the bedrooms and a bathroom and the kitchen and the deck between tomorrow and Sunday.
If all goes smoothly we will also move much of the living room.
Mom gave us a wonderful gift when she moved in with us. She gave us our last months rent. We therefore have a full month to move. She will stay in the Germantown house and have more time to pack up and that will give us more time to do the first major renovation.
The basement of the new house has a bedroom and a bathroom and a very large main room. We put the new light bulbs down there. We will paint it and we will put down a new floor. We may even move some cabinets down there. Ideally once she is ready to come over we will be able to present her with a really desirable living space.  On the immediate upside the hot tub is right outside her patio door.

I am immensely calmer now.

Below the closest playground.

Expect pictures of boxes to come.
