remember this from 3 weeks ago?
Ta-daaa! with bonus strawberry!
On Friday we had a pretty big day. We went to Kiernan's school to drop of school supplies and meet the teacher.
We tried out the fun tech in the classroom and saw other kids in his class. It was good to put a face to his teacher. It was good to see him being fine in the very chaotic and crowded environs of a meet and greet. We stood in a bunch of lines and Megan went crazy singing to everyone and spazing out so after about 30 min she went to play at the park with daddy while Kiernan and I stayed for more lines.
I think we are as ready as we can possibly be.
School starts Wednessday for Kiernan.
Grandma and Grandpa Scearce came up for a visit. We had fun hanging out and eating tacos and going to a garden center to look at plants.
After they left we got ready for Kiernan's Soccer Adventure !!
It is really funny to see how excited he is about this. He asked if he could have games and practice every day. He jumped up and down on the field. He was surprisingly good at the technicals, which for his age group means dribbling the ball between cones and kicking backwards.
Kiernan's team is called either the Tigers or the Orange Tigers. He is one of the biggest kids on it. There are 3 boys and 3 girls. The coach (Williams?) says that he wants to split us off from the main group for practices because he thinks that the style of the group practices is too fragmented for such little kids.
I will say that it keeps their attention well but I suspect that he is right about their actual learning being diminished by all the interruptions.
Happily for Megan there are several playgrounds at the practice grounds. We did lot of climbing and sliding in addition to watching the big kids.
On Saturday morning one of the trees in the back yard fell.
We have been having just buckets of rainfall of late and this one finally came down. We knew that it would at some point and it was on the list to be taken down next year if it still stood. I suppose this means we can pick another to take down instead. grandma Mary called it best. She said that it was the most well behaved Rogue tree.
It fell away from the house and broke some of the back fence but it didn't hit the neighbors chicken coop (by about 2-5 feet).
To add insult to injury our well pump sprung a leek about 3 hours later.
This was a super-doper home owner weekend.
To keep the kids out of the back yard and away from all the downed tree action we baked a Minecraft cake.
Steve is cross-eyed.
Everything was so wet on Saturday that David had to wait until Sunday to do nearly all of the tree work. He got up early and we watched to see signs of life from the neighbors before cutting in. They got up pretty early and drove off. David cut up the tree until around 10 when it was time to go for brunch with Lore and Martin.
We had a great Cajun brunch at Louisiana Kitchen and then headed back into the fray.
I took the kids down to Scearce's to grab the pickup.
Grabbing the truck looks a little like playing in the creek and picking tomatoes I know.
Some of the results from Davids many test came back this week and we found out that he has Celiac disease. That is a man who lives for bread and now gluten is off the menu. It was a pretty hard blow.
We stopped at Ledo pizza on the way back and found out that they make gluten free pizza. My heart soared.
We had pizza and everyone was happy and felt normal.
We admired the results of David's hard work and went to bed.
Next week should be an ever bigger one!
