Memorial Day and Sunburn

Behold the baby peaches.

The weather warmed up quite a bit this week. The kids used the swings.

Kiernan has 3 loose teeth and some coming up behind and beneath and he looks like a shark.
He spent Friday at school doing Field Day. He had been so excited about Field Day for about 3 weeks that I was afraid it would pale in comparison to his expectations.
NO!
He came home with stories that lasted 2 or 3 days.

Megan and I went to Scearce's on Friday and picked strawberries.

We admired the flowers.

We ran through the woods and played in the creek.

We had a grand old time and I loved so much having a mommy & Megan day in which we were both healthy and full of good spirits. It was some serious bonding time.

The bonding carried over into early Saturday morning when we left the guys to Minecraft and did the grocery shopping.

After Minecraft and breakfast we went for a hike at the Monocacy Aqueduct.

The kids did pretty well. They walked without being carried or fussy.

Pax was more than a handful trying to jump on passers by and bikes and dogs. She is a bit too social. We need to take her out more.

We saw a big snake down in the river it looked between 3 and 4 ft and it was a water moccasin.

After our fun day on Saturday we spent much of Sunday doing yard-work and having a small cookout.
I mowed the back and played with the kids while David did the front.

I also had a long talk with Pax about which  of us should eat my biscuit.

We ate the usual veggie version of cook out food with grillers and chickpatties taking the place of hamburgers.

Then we set up the slip and slide and watched the kids run through it and fail to slide.
They were very happy.

Our big holiday plan involved getting up early in the morning on Monday and bringing a picnic breakfast to the beach. We planned on eating and swimming at Sandy Point until lunch time and then heading into Annapolis for lunch in a biergarten.
To that end I had been looking up beach picnic foods on Pintrest all week.
Mom made frozen grape skewers and I made mini omelets with tater tots for the shells.

They were well received.

We had the car packed up by 7:30 and then waited for Martin to join us.

Unfortunately he joined us a bit later than hoped and we wound up sitting in traffic for ages until breakfast time was over and the cops closed Sandy Point ahead of us due to overcrowding.

Happily David once worked just on the other side of the Bay Bridge and he though he might know of a place.

Boy did he know of a place!
We found ourselves at Terripin Beach park.
We ate a brunchish breakfast. We played in the bay. We got sunburns and sand everywhere.

The kids played on the boogie boards and made sandcastles and rolled about in delight.

Kiernan and I got goofy with the selfies while Megan buried herself in sand.

Then we headed home for naps and Minecraft and a few episodes of Elementary.
Yay for a fun Memorial day weekend.
