Strawberries and T-Ball

This week we paid for inattentive adult sunblock slacking with aloe and itchy peeling sunburns. The kids I am happy to say are fine and it looks like their coverage was sufficient.
Note to self...don't be an idiot about the sun.

Kiernan is back to T-Ball after all the time off for his ear infection/perforated ear drum/ antibiotic sun avoidance.
He has become a thing I could not imagine, seeing him play last year. My boy is a ball hog!
Last year he had to be reminded every single hit to watch out for the ball and to chase the ball and to throw the ball. Now he is diving across the field to intercept the grounders. I know its a problem if he wont let go of a ball that he and another player grab at the same moment but mostly I view it as good progress.

My tomatoes on the deck are looking really great with the heat and the rain. The plants down in the yard are tiny and suffering from the poor soil but we will get something this year for sure.

On Friday I got the strangest impulse. I woke up thinking about how as a kid and young SDA I had spent some part of Friday preparing for the Sabbath. We cleaned the house and cooked something for lunch after church.

So I decided to just go with it and clean the house instead of taking Megan out like I normally do.
In cleaning the kids rooms I discovered that not all of their caterpillars had died and that there was at least one young moth in a jar on a dresser.

We went out on the back deck and moved it to the railing where it fluttered its wings dry and flew off to destructive mothly freedom.

If you ever wonder what the moth looks like from the tent caterpillars here you go.

Megan also spent some of my cleaning and laundry time doing her make-up.
She loves to watch Disney princess make-up tutorials on YouTube This is her version.

After a great deal of clean up we went out to lunch.

Then Meg's and Pax hung out while I cleaned some more.

She called me to see Pax hugging her.

Did I say they were twins?

On Saturday we went to a T-Ball game with some special guests.

Kaleb and his entourage  came to see Kiernan play.

We hung out and did some crafts (bath crayons) and ate some apricots.

That evening a surprise from Nana arrived.

This is our new shade tent for the next time we go to the beach.
Yay sunburn prevention!

On Sunday I took the rowdy kids out to give David a little grown-up time.

We got tons of  strawberries and played in the creek and saw Grandma & Grandpa and Aunt Licia.

David fixed the hot tube by replacing both pumps.
He also flipped Kiernan's bed so that it is on the floor rather than bunk bed style.

We returned home with thoughts of strawberry pie and with new flipped bed appreciation.

In other news; Kiernan has discovered Steve Martin.
