This week I had a fair amount of anxiety and was struggling with it at work.
In an unrelated but extremely fortuitous turn for me, my friend Krishna brought out her roller blades.
I always have roller blades in my car. We basically had recess several times during the week and it was great!
At home Megan and Pax destroyed both moms down comforter and deck herb garden.
The blackberries and raspberries are ripening nicely.
The half bath is basically done.
I went out and got fireworks.
When I say that the half bath is basically done, I mean that the cosmetic stuff other than the last coat of paint is done.
The plumbing problem persists.
David went up onto the roof again to vent the pipe.
This time he had a new (borrowed) tool.
It still didn't work.
Poor David.
I went to the store and got party supplies for later in the week. As I walked across the parking lot with a cardboard box full of hard cider, fireworks, and snacks I was invited to several parties and felt lots of friendly community spirit.
Ha
On the 3rd of July Mount Airy had their firework display. We decided to try viewing them from a bank parking lot far from the madding crowed.
Aunt Lore came over on her way to the airport for a trip to see Opa and Grandma Evelyn. We sat on a hillside and watched fireworks until Kiernan fell to sleep. We headed home and put him to bed and wished Aunt Lore bon voyage.
Please pray for Grandma Evelyn, she is having a cancer event.
The 4th looked like this.
We spent a very sleepy day.
We did some cleaning and some cooking for our Annual 4th of July tie dye party.
I made the traditional Jello flag while mom made some terrific potato salad.
In the evening we did our own 4th of July fireworks.
I am glad I went to the stand instead of buying the prepacked boxes from the grocery store.
The selection was spectacular.
We rounded it out with the traditional sparklers.
On the 5th we made and ate tons of food.
We kept it simple with veggie dogs and burgers and some tasty from scratch sides.
We rounded out with cheesy jello.
There were silly string fights.
There was tie dye.
There was the traditional realization that I forgot to get gloves.
The gloves were upstairs...
Megan wore her princess wig and cracked us all up.
Connor and Regan came over from next door and did a few shirts as well.
Scearce's watched and helped and Aunt Licia did a shirt too.
Kiernan displayed the traditional introvert reaction to any party and crashed hard as soon as everyone left.
Later in the evening we showed our American pride by cheering on U.S. Women's Soccer as they beat Japan in the finals of the FIFA World Cup.
I had the entertaining position of texting with Kathryn, in Japan, the score of the game, as she rode the train in to work.
It was particularly nice to watch some of this game with Meg's in my lap. She loved Megan Rapinoe because: 1 Megan 2 blonde 3.Pink Shoes.
My Megs is now sure that when she is in the world cup she will be the same.
I know how meaningful it can be to see someone you identify with doing something great. I want Megan to see that all of her life.
In other and late breaking news.
My sister Jessica has written and published her first book.
It is titled Confessions of a Frazzled Homeschooling Mom. It is only .99 and you should for sure go look at it if you like comedy, especially of the child rearing and Christian variety.
My sister is a very funny woman.
