Last week the Cub Scouts had a cool Halloween party.
There was mummy wrapping.
There were magic carpet races.
There was a series of creative limbo adaptations.
They had lots of fun games for all the kids plus a costume parade and lots of candy.
There are two kids with chocolate allergies so all the candy was non-chocolate and upon hearing this Kiernan complained that the only good candy was chocolate candy. It was amazing the change of heart that a bag full of jolly ranchers and starbursts invested.
On that note: Kiernan's Cub Scout Fundraiser time is upon us. If you would like to support him or them through the purchase of pizza cookies snacks or cheesecakes please let me know.
They are not doing online ordering but I found the website for the catalog so you can have a look at the variety of options here.
There was a beautiful colorful spider in the tomato plants.
There were beautiful colorful leaves at the playground.
Look at this sky.
On Friday Megan and I went to Sugarloaf for a hike and a picnic.
We hiked a much longer path than we usually do. She did quite well. We ate pistachios and drank water and chatted on the mountain top.
We also went to a very muddy park.
On Saturday we went to the Renaissance Fair.
The kids had a ball.
On a particularly bright note we got Grandma Mary for the whole day.
She is so busy that we hardly ever get to see her and even then never for very long or for pleasure.
It was her birthday last week. We got her a fun present and dressed her up in costume (long suffering patient soul that she is) and plopped her into the hot tub for good measure.
It was so wonderful to have her.
It also afforded an extra camera so that I could get sweet pictures with Megan instead of just of Megan.
Both these kids adore the pony rides.
Megan also adores the food and the playground.
Kiernan has made a big step this year in actually loving the shows as well.
Its been a while since we could get everything out of the fair because we need to heard the kids but we can now envision a time when we can see some of our favorite performers again.
I got a hug from a piratical swashbuckler to boot!
Mary also was there to help us prep for Megan's birthday party.
Moms work schedule is now super busy. She works every weekend all weekend long so she is missing some of our family gatherings.
Luckily for us all Megan gets up at dark 30 in time to see her off in the morning.
This was taken more than an hour before the sun was up on Sunday morning.
On Saturday night Mom and Mary made this amazing My Little Pony cake.
Megan added the toys to round it out.
For the party we ate "borscht" and pancakes and dragon noodles and veggies.
This little 4 year old picks some random foods.
I loved her menu.
The kids played really well together and Pax behaved her self admirably.
Megan reveled in her guests even more than in her presents.
In the evening we had the traditional fire to celebrate another year of our fiery girl.
