Happy Halloween

We went to Ihop on the day before Halloween to take advantage of their free scary face pancake offer.
The kids were very happy.  Megan mostly ate the candy and Kiernan actually ate his food. He has been going back and forth between being sick and being ravenous.
This time he at.

Then we went to Scearce's with Pax to run around.

It was cool out but sunny. We wound up playing lots of video games and hiking by the creek.

On Saturday (Haloween day) morning we took the hiking to a whole new level. We returned to Sugarloaf to retrieve (I cant believe it was still there!) Megan's blanket.
The kids battled over who would lead the hike in an untypical but slightly hilarious fashion.

Kiernan asked me to take a picture of him "staring off into the distance". So here it is.
hahah

It was chilly but I still had some bottles of water and pistachios in my backpack. I added some great pumpkin bread from aunt Licia. We snacked and chatted about our weeks and about our trick or treat plans.

When we got home David and the kids did the Jack-o-Lanterns while I made Mummy wrap veggie dogs...thanks Pinterest.

The pumpkins turned out pretty spooky.

Later Kiernan threw a random wrench into the works by deciding that he was too embarrassed to be seen in public in his costume. This after appearing in it quite publicly at his Cub Scout party last week.
So I took his hood and weapons and became ninja mommy to help motivate him.

He came around to the whole thing again after a little exposure to free candy.
He told Megan "this is the best night of the year and it only happens once!"
She was practically reverent.
It was too dark to get any good trick-or-treat pictures on my phone but here is how it went. Megan ran from house to house banging on doors and practically accosting candy holding adults. Kiernan walked behind still rattled from the 2 scary houses down the block politely thanking everyone and looking nervously about for zombies.

We walked around 1 block and then decided that the haul was sufficient unto the day.
Kiernan sorted his candy to get rid of anything that might cause us a visit to the dentist to put his spacer back in (again).

Megan little hedonist that she is took a lollipop downto the hot tub and hung out with Nana.

In other news my 2nd article for the Cub Scouts has been published.
